DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
The terms and words used in the following description and claims are not limited to the bibliographical meanings, but, are merely used by the inventor to enable a clear and consistent understanding of the invention. Accordingly, it should be apparent to those skilled in the art that the following description of exemplary embodiments of the present invention are provided for illustration purpose only and not for the purpose of limiting the invention as defined by the appended claims and their equivalents.
Figure 1 describes the vehicle safety and driver limiting system (1) according to the main aspect of the present invention. The main embodiment of said system comprises of seat compartment (11) and dash compartment (21). The seat compartment (11) is disposed preferably on the seating position of the driver (31) who is operating the vehicle. The dash compartment (21) is disposed on the dashboard of said vehicle. The seat compartment (11) comprises of at least a RF module (12), pressure sensor (13) and driver seat
(14). The dash compartment (21) comprises of RF receiving module (22), accelerometer (23), control unit (24), touch display (24) and dash panel (26).
Referring in more specific with Figure 1, the RF module (12) is disposed inside the driver seat (14) of said vehicle; similarly the pressure sensor (13) is disposed on the bottom portion of the driver seat (14). The RF receiving module (22) is disposed inside the dash panel (26) particularly nearer to the touch display (25). The accelerometer (23) and control unit (24) are disposed inside the dash panel (26). The touch display (25) is disposed on the dash panel (26) whereas it is operably mounted by the driver (31).
Figure 2 describes the display accessibility limitations (41) of the driver (31) and passenger (42) in accordance to another main aspect of the present invention. The driver (31) will be seated on the driver seat (14) for operating said vehicle whereas the passenger (42) will be seated on the passenger seat (43) on the front portion of said vehicle next to the driver (31). When the vehicle is stationary, no motion will be detected by the accelerometer (23) and the system (1) remains in dormant even if the system detects the presence of driver (31).During motion of the vehicle, if the pressure sensor (13) detects the pressure of the driver (31) and accelerometer (23) detects motion of the vehicle, said system (1) activates and RF module (12) wirelessly emit low frequency signals to the driver (31).
Referring more specific with Figure 2,the low frequency will be received and absorbed by the driver (31). When the driver (31) approaches the touch display (25) during vehicle motion through the driver's hand (32), the low frequency wireless signals from the driver (31) passes through the driver's hand (32) and said wireless signals are identified by the dash compartment (21) preferably by the RF receiving module (22).
When the driver (31) tries to operate the touch display (25), the signal from the said receiving module (22)is transmitted to the control unit (24) and said control unit (24) blocks unnecessary features of the vehicle's user interface touch operations. Said touch operations in the user interface of the touch display (25) are preferably audio, video, internet and forward calls. Therefore, unproductive operations are suspended and provide a limit for the driver (31) during vehicle motion.
In another aspect, when the passenger (42) sitting in the passenger seat (43) approaches the touch display (25) through his/her passenger's hand (44), the system provides limitless access in touch operations since there are no low frequency signals from the passenger (42). In other words, the passenger (42) has full access to all the touch operations in the touch display (25) and the vehicle driver (31) has only limited access to the touch operations of the vehicle. The driver (31) is provided to have access to attend incoming calls from the vehicle and restricting all the other features from the vehicle.
Figure 3 describes the block diagram representation of vehicle safety and driver limiting system (1) in accordance to the present invention. According to the block diagram, said driver limiting system (l)comprises of a RF module (12), pressure sensor (13), RF receiving module (22), accelerometer (23), control unit (24) and touch display (25). Said pressure sensor (13), accelerometer (23) and RF receiving module (22) is connected to the control unit (24). Said control unit (24) is connected to the RF module (12) and touch display (25). The presence of driver is sensed by the pressure sensor (13) and sends relevant signals to the control unit (24), the motion of the vehicle is sensed by the accelerometer (23) and transmit signals to the control unit (24). If low frequency signal is received by the RF receiving module (22), the signal is transmitted to the control unit (24). Said control unit (24) is connected to the touch display (25) and limits touch operations in the user interface of the vehicle.
Figure 4a and 4b describes the vehicle display representation of vehicle safety and driver limiting system (1) in accordance to the present invention. As represented in fig 4, Heretofore said touch. operations are restricted during vehicle motion when the driver (31) approaches the touch display (25), the driver (31) is allowed only to attend incoming calls in the touch display (25) if the driver's (31) mobile is wirelessly connected to the vehicle. Referring with fig 4b, when the passenger (42) approaches the touch display (25) through his/her said hand (44), features such as music, video, forward calls and the like are given access only to the passenger (44).
Figure 5 describes the flowchart process representation of vehicle safety and driver limiting system (1) in accordance to the present invention. Initially, the control unit (24) monitors the vehicle motion and the presence of driver during vehicle motion by acquiring data from the pressure sensor (13) and accelerometer (23). If the motion and pressure is detected, the control unit (24) transmits signals to the RF module (12) to emit wireless signals and said signals transfers through the driver's body (31). The RF receiving module (22) receives the wireless signal when the driver approaches nearer to the touch display (25), if the wireless signal received by the RF receiving module (22), the control unit (24) operates the touch display (25) to limit unproductive functional operations in the user interface of the vehicle.
The present invention claims many advantages. As the driver has the inability to operate certain functions of the user interface in the touch display unit, distracting factors are avoided and therefore awareness driving factor is increased. Furthermore, as the system only allows passengers to operate particular vehicle's user interface, it helps to avoid the distraction of driver. Thus, the present invention is more effective in vehicle safety and limits the driver's unproductive operations on the vehicle than conventional methods.
