Vehicle For Transporting Passengers Having A Variable Number Of Seats

Abstract: A passenger transport vehicle (1) comprising a system which is configured to vary the number of available seating places in accordance with the level of passenger traffic to be transported, and has a mechanical support structure (100) having a fixed part (106) and a movable part (105) movable between a first position in which the movable part is extended relative to the fixed part so that the mechanical support structure (100) forms a seating place available for passengers, and a second position in which the movable part is retracted towards the fixed part so that the seating place is unavailable for seating. The mechanical support structure comprises a covering surface (150) which is connected to and is disposed around a portion of the movable part. The covering surface comprises a first and a second rigid portions (152, 153), and a third deformable portion (154). The first rigid portion forms a seating surface when the movable part is in the first position, while the first and second rigid portions form with the third deformable portion an ischiatic support surface when the movable part is in the second position.
