Vehicle Frontal Crash Bracket Assembly
Abstract: A frontal crash bracket assembly (50) for an automotive vehicle (75) is illustrated which includes a pair of L-shaped mounting brackets (55, 56) integrated with a right hand side and a left hand side of the vehicle front side. Each mounting bracket (55, 56) includes a vertical arm (35) integrated within a cross member (6) of the vehicle (75) and a horizontal arm (25) connected to a vehicle cabin (5). A circular front damper pivot (18) located between the vertical arm (35) and the horizontal arm (25) is attached to a front chassis mounting bracket (12) connected to a chassis frame (20). A collapsible member (10) mounted on the front side of the vertical arm (35) initially observes a frontal impact load and consequently transfers the load to the chassis frame (20). A stopper (14) mounted on the chassis frame (20) transfers load path from a frontal crash energy of the circular front damper pivot (18) into the chassis frame (20) and a gap between the vertical arm (25) and body in white (9) delays a collapsing force and structural movement during the crash.
