Abstract: A compact mobile outdoor air purifier which is designed to tackle air pollution in cities. This purifier is designed in such a way that it can be fitted in any vehicle like Car, Bus, Motorbike, truck. It is provided with a casing that includes a cylindrical pipe or rectangular shape fitted with a suction fan, HEPA filter, pre filter, activated carbon filter and sensors. This purifier can reduce pollutants from air like dust, fume, mist, microbes and particulate matters. It is designed in such a way that it gets power from vehicle’s power source. It sucks air from the surrounding of vehicle and purifies it with the help of filters in it. This purifier is equipped with multilayer air filters, sensors and self-cleaning mechanism.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to the field of air purifier. More specifically, the present invention relates to the field of air purification of ambient/ outdoor air.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Pollution is the biggest problem in most of the metros in the world, especially in Asian countries like China, northern part of India and other countries like Mexico. The primary sources of smoke are stubble burning, lit garbage, road dust, power plants, factories, and vehicles. For traffic related sources, growth in vehicle numbers and mileage seems to outpace efforts to reduce emissions. Contrary to popular belief, most of the air pollution in Delhi is not due to vehicular traffic. Main contributors to particulate matter in the PM10 range, as a recent study shows, are road dust (50%) and industry (23%) vehicles accounted for only 7%. Among industrial contributors, power plants within Delhi city limits were the main culprits
[003] Air quality can be measured by the amount of PM 2.5 and PM 10 particulates suspended in air. On Nov 7, 2017 the PM 2.5 levels in Delhi shot up to 999, much above the recommended 60 micrograms. At the same time PM 10 shot to 999 (the maximum level for the monitors), instead of the recommended limit of 100.
[004] We have taken several steps to reduce the level of air pollution in the city during the last 10 years. China has built a largest air purifier tower for mass air purification, jumbo size Water sprinklers,
discouraging use of fossil fuels. However, more still needs to be done to further reduce the levels of air pollution. Such idea need following things to fulfil the need
• Land for installation
• Electricity (To generate electricity we will burn fossil fuel)
• Maintenance staff
• Significant amount of time and money to build
[005] There are various other tools available to purify air quality but these are only limited to car cabin, hospitals, rooms. These solutions are not cost effective and somewhere complex in design. Outdoor air purification is still a big challenge for many countries specially India and China.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
[006] This invention is designed to purify air which is surrounding of the vehicle in which it is installed i.e. ambient air. Vehicle could be of any type it could be a car, pickup trucks, bus, three-wheeler or two-wheeler. Size of purifier unit could vary according to type of the vehicle. Vehicles are the major role player in increasing air pollution. Purpose of this invention is to convert these vehicles in moving air purifiers that run on vehicle generated electricity and purify air in surrounding.
[007] This invention is fitted in a cylindrical pipe equipped with suction fan, HEPA filter, pre-filter and sensors to alarm filter working status.
[008] The main objective of this invention is to provide highly compact, low cost and very low maintenance air purification unit to be fitted in vehicles which can remove the full spectrum of particulate contaminant
from the atmosphere. Although various air purifiers are available to purify indoor air but nothing is for mass or outdoor air purification. Using this invention, we can convert our running vehicle into running air purifier that will purify air surrounding the vehicle. This invention will utilize vehicle generated power for its operations.
[009] Another objective of the invention is to purify ambient i.e. outdoor air, as opposed to polluted air coming out of the exhaust of the vehicle.
[0010] Major drawback of outdoor air purifier is we need to clean filter very frequently. More particularly objective of this invention is to provide an above set of unit with easily replaceable filter, equipped with self pre filter cleaning mechanism.
[0011 ] Another objective of this invention is to provide above set of unit which operates efficiently and reliably and can be produced in bulk at a very low cost.
[0012] In brief these objectives are achieved in a compact unit which will remove particulate matter from outdoor air. The Invented unit is designed in such a way that it can be fitted in vehicles very easily and without disturbing vehicles decorum. Unit is provided with the casing which includes a cylindrical hollow tube, a suction fan, a particulate filter, a pre-filter and sensing equipment's. Suction fan draws the air through the filters attached to the inlet of tube.
[0013] This invention is designed with the purpose of converting all kind of running vehicles into air purifiers. The vehicle equipped with the above set of unit will behave like an air purifier and where ever it will go, purifies air.
[0014] Does not clean the exhausted air but the ambient air (to be included in the description)
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
[0015] For a better understanding of the invention as well as other objects and further features thereof, reference is made to the following detailed description to be read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, wherein:
[0016] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an air purifier unit in accordance with the invention;
[0017] FIG. 2 is a Pre filter and;
[0018] FIG. 3 is a schematic diagram of the unit to illustrate the functioning of its components.
DESCRIPTION
[0019] Referring now to FIG. 1 there is shown a compact air purifier unit in accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the unit including a casing 10 having an oblong cross-section mounted on a similarly-shaped base 11 and a horizontally-extending flow tube 12 supported above the casing and integral therewith. The entire structure may be molded in one piece of synthetic plastic material such as PVC.
[0020] Thread ably received on the outlet or front end of flow tube is a removable collar within which is coaxially supported a miniature D-C(Direct Current) motor. This motor drives a turbine fan in a direction drawing air through the flow tube from the inlet to the outlet end thereof whereby air from the surrounding of vehicle in which the unit is installed
is drawn into the tube where it is purified before being fed back to the atmosphere. In this way, the air surrounding the vehicle is continuously recirculated through the unit,
[0021] The serial ring arrangement permits the user to choose and set up a series of filter rings which are appropriate to prevailing atmospheric conditions. While four filter rings are shown, a greater or smaller number may be used in practice to meet particular requirements.
[0022] Thus, a unit in accordance with the invention has multiple functions, for it not only removes the full spectrum of particulate contaminants from the air stream, but it also ionizes the air and renders it more fragrant or pleasing.
[0023] While there has been shown and described a preferred embodiment of Vehicle Mounted Ambient Air Purifier System in accordance with the invention, it will be appreciated that many changes and modifications may be made therein without, however, departing from the essential spirit thereof. Thus, while the rings have been shown as having externally-threaded projections to make intercoupling possible, in practice other coupling means may be used such as bayonet type or snap-in couplings. And instead of a porous pad for the aromatic filter, this may be formed by a mesh holding aromatic beads through which the air flows.
[0024] Modifications to embodiments of the present disclosure described in the foregoing are possible without departing from the scope of the present disclosure as defined by the accompanying claims. Expressions such as "including", "comprising", "incorporating",
"consisting of", "have", "is" used to describe and claim the present disclosure are intended to be construed in a non-exclusive manner, namely allowing for items, components or elements not explicitly described also to be present. Reference to the singular is also to be construed to relate to the plural.
