PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION The following specification describes the invention

Field of invention:
This invention relates to vehicles with soft canopies and more particularly it
relates to provision of canopies on vehicles and fixing method thereof.
Background of Invention:
There are many automobiles with soft canopies with folding (convertible} or fixed, type and are depending upon the type of vehicle. Most of vehicles do have convertible- type canopiesr and their mechanisms arc very pierise and sophisticated nature. Most of the passenger vehicles used for passenger commutation have fixed type of canopies wherein the canopies are fixed to vehicle body by fasteners. In some cases locking profile and canopy edges having beads aire used for interlocking;.
The drawbacks associated with conventional methods are, which are expensive and require very long assembly time.
Objects of this invention:
> The main objert of this invention is bo provide a canopy for quick fixing on-vehicle.
> Another object of this invention is to provide a canopy having good aesthetic features
> Yet another object of this invention is to provide a canopy and its fixing method which is simple in construction and cost effective
Brief description of Invention:
The canopy in accordance with this invention mainly comprises of reinforcing the edges of the said canopy with reinforcing strips. Said reinforcing strips are provided with openings for fixing positive fasteners. The said canopy edge is locked in to support plate fixed to vehicle body. The said positive fasteners get fixed in to openings provided on support plate in turn which fastens canopy to

the vehicle body. The said canopy and its fitting method provide good aesthetic features to the vehicles as fasteners are invisible after fitting the canopy to vehicle.
Detailed description of invention:
Referring now to the drawings wherein the showings are tor the purpose of
illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention only, and not for the
purpose of limiting the same.

The canopy (3) in accordance with this invention mainly comprises of reinforced
edges witli the help of reinforcing streps (2). Said reinforcing strips (2) ace
provided with openings for fixing positive fasteners (4). The said canopy edge is
locked in to support plate (1) fixed to vehicle body. Said positive fasteners get
fixed in to openings provided on support plate in turn which fastens canopy to
the vehicle body. The said canopy and its fitting method provide good aesthetic
features to the vehicles as fasteners are invisible after fitting the canopy to vehicle.
Support plate (1) is fixed to the body for fixing and holding of the canopy .Hie canopy edge is reinforced by using plastic strip (2) called as reinfonoernent strip and is stitched to the canopy and has opening* for insertion of the plastic positive fasteners (4). The said fastener is inserted in to the opening of reinforcement strip and the whole edge is simultaneously inserted in to the support plate (1) and the positive fastener (4) in to the opening provided in support plate. This locks the canopy edge and provides positive and dean appearance of the joint as the fasteners are hidden inside the canopy (3).

Method of fixing the canopy to the vehicle comprises mainly fallowing steps:
a. Reinforcing canopy at its edges with the help of reinforcing members
which have provisions for accommodating fasteners
b. Fixing support plate to body of vehicle which have provisions for
accommodating fasteners
c. Inserting the fastener* in the said reinforcing members
d. Simultaneously inserting canopy in to edge of support plate and fixing
fasteners to the support plate opening.
The foregoing description is a .specific embodiment of the present invention. It should be appreciated that this embodiment is described for purpose of illustration only, and that numerous alterations and modifications may be practiced by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. It is intended that all such modifications and alterations be included insofar as they come within the scope of the invention as claimed ox the equivalents thereof.
