[0001] The present invention relates to vehicle security systems. More specifically, the present invention relates to a vehicle security system devised on the basis of internet of things so as to provide user with an efficient remote control and surveillance of the vehicle.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Security and management as the word stands states a lot of importance for anything whatsoever be. Since the dawn of industrialization and modernization, a lot of developments have taken place with respect to security systems and methods for their management. During earlier days when vehicles were manufactured only a portion of the society were able to buy those and whole community knew about the whereabouts of the vehicle.
[0003] In recent times, there has been a tremendous growth in manufacturing of the vehicle, and simultaneously there is also a tremendous growth regarding to theft of the vehicles. Owners, despite of maintaining high security around the parking place of the vehicle, still lose their car. In conventional security systems or methods, cameras are mounted on parking places in order to have a constant surveillance on the vehicle, however no system is focused towards providing an inbuilt security and surveillance system for the vehicles.
[0004] CA1106449A, discloses about a portable infrared signal generator is actuatable by a motor vehicle operator at a distance from the vehicle to generate digitally coded infrared signal pulses in accordance with either a first or a second predetermined digital code. A receiver on the motor vehicle is effective to receive the infrared signal pulses, decode them and actuate apparatus responsive to the first digital code to unlock a power door lock and power a light effective to illuminate at least a part of the vehicle or responsive to the second digital code to actuate an alarm. Both the first and second digital codes contain a common identifying portion substantially unique to the particular motor vehicle, which portion may be permanently stored in the generator and receiver by the connections of the input/output terminals of a microprocessor chip mounted on a printed circuit board to one of two voltage sources on the printed circuit board. The receiver includes a photodiode connected in a circuit to operate in the photovoltaic mode so that the infrared pulses can be distinguished from strong back-ground illumination for operation in daylight as well as at night. The receiver further includes a lens and reflector for receiving the infrared pulses over a wide incoming angle.
[0005] Despite of the utilities presented in the above-mentioned prior art, the prior art fails in detecting over speeding of the vehicle and remains limited to a singular channel information transmission thereby creating problem for user in case the main communication unit damages.
[0006] Due to the above-mentioned drawbacks, there exists a need to develop a system that is compatible to every vehicle and provides the capability of controlling different functions of the vehicles wirelessly in case of thefts or any other mis-happening.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
[0007] The principle object of the present invention is to provide a system that is capable of overcoming the disadvantages that have been presented in the prior-art.
[0008] An object of the present invention is to provide a system that is capable of managing security of a vehicle by providing user with a remote access for controlling functioning of the vehicle.
[0009] Another object of the present invention is to provide a system that is capable of sensing abnormalities and further alerting the user regarding sensed abnormality.
[0010] The foregoing and other objects of the present invention will become readily apparent upon further review of the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

[0021] The present invention relates to an IOT based security system for vehicle that provisions a user with the capability of controlling the functioning of a vehicle from a distant location (i.e. remotely) by incorporating a control unit having inbuilt communication unit. The sensors
[0022] Referring to figure. 1, illustrates a block diagram representing connection of components associated in vehicle security system, wherein the system comprises of multiple sensors for determining a set of parameters. The sensors have been defined by a threshold value according to each sensor for detecting an abnormality. The sensors are a vehicle speed sensor, location sensor and biometric sensor.
[0023] The vehicle speed sensor is preferably a tachometer that is assembled preferably at a wheel of the vehicle. The vehicle speed sensor consists of a ferromagnetic toothed ring associated with a sensor that is associated with the wheel for detecting rotation of the wheel and providing output in form of pulse. The pulse output is generally in form of wave signal and the signal is converted to pulses per mile value so that the gained value is able to be compared with predefined threshold value for speed in control unit.
[0024] The counting of the pulse operation is done in the control unit preferably by Arduino timers. The control unit being employed in the present invention is preferably an Atmel Mega 162, for efficient functioning of the system. The output of the speed sensor is attached with an electrical connector for converting the wave form output to digital form.
[0025] The system is associated with a location sensor preferably global positioning unit that is revealing location of the vehicle in real time in form of latitude and longitude with respect to the geography of earth. Upon revealing the location of the vehicle, the signals are transmitted to the user’s user interface for pin pointing the location of the vehicle with the help of an associated world map. The map is preferably a street map of the world depicting streets, locality and terrains.
[0026] The system is further installed with plurality of biometric sensor at the handle and on the dashboard of the vehicle. The biometric sensor is preferably a fingerprint sensor that is further coupled with a recognizing unit for sensing and recognizing fingerprint of the user. The biometric sensor present in the dashboard is further associated with engine’s ignition, so that upon recognizing the fingerprint of the user the engine will start and the vehicle will further function.
[0027] The data related to the parameters sensed by the sensors (i.e. vehicle speed sensor, biometric sensor, GPS sensor) is updated or simply stored on a cloud storage which is accessible through internet connectivity. A control unit (i.e Atmel ATMega 162) is installed in the system that incorporates a communication unit, the control unit accesses the data and transmits it to a user interface. If there is any abnormality sensed by the sensor, then an alert is generated and transmitted to the user interface in order to notify the user about an abnormality.
[0028] The communication unit uses internet connectivity for transmitting and receiving the data. An (internet of things) IOT module is connected to the cloud storage and communication unit accessibility of data wirelessly. The internet of things makes the data accessible through multiple user interfaces. It is obvious to a person skilled in the art that the accessibility can be provided to the person who is authenticated as the user of the vehicle.
[0029] The user interface is further connected to a camera which is mounted inside a vehicle. The camera is used for surveying the activity happening inside the enclosure of the vehicle. The surveillance images or videos are captured and transmitted to the user interface by means of internet connectivity. The camera is also connected to the cloud storage for saving the image/video files for future use.
[0030] The system is further associated with a relay that is interlaced within the control unit and fuse of the vehicle. The relay is preferably a 40V-12A relay that is controlling the inflow of current to the vehicle fuse. Upon receiving command for killing the ignition of the vehicle the relay cuts the connection of fuse so that the vehicle stops functioning. The control unit is further assisted with a self-sustained power source that is providing the control unit with electrical current for functioning when the vehicle’s ignition is off.
[0031] Another alarming unit is installed in the vehicle that generates sounds and simultaneously flickers the light for alerting the surrounding in regards of theft or improper manhandling. The system is designed in a peculiar manner that the sensitiveness of the system can be accessed through the user’s user interface for enabling efficient utilization of the power. The system is further associated with a cloud-based storage unit that is storing the log for operation of the vehicle and the system for enabling user to access those data in time of requirement.
[0032] According to an alternate embodiment of the present invention, the system can be molded according to a house or public place so that security of the confined place can be maintained. The present invention also provides higher scope of utilization in a public transport like railway, airplane or cruise ships or cargo ships or even busses and bikes.
[0033] While the disclosure has been presented with respect to certain specific embodiments, it will be appreciated that many modifications and changes may be made by those skilled in the art, without departing from spirit and scope of the disclosure. It is intended, therefore, by appended claims to cover all such modifications and changes within true spirit and scope of the disclosure.
