Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a vehicle, more specifically the present application is related to plurality of storage in a vehicle.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Generally, in a vehicle, e.g., such as a two-wheeled vehicle with a step-through type frame assembly, a floorboard is provided at a step-through space. A user rests his feet on the floorboard, which enables him to have a seating posture, while driving. A seat assembly is disposed in a posterior portion of the step-through space. The seat assembly comprises a rider seat and a passenger seat. Generally, in a vehicle with a step-through type frame assembly, a utility box is disposed below the seat assembly. The seat assembly, in an open condition, provides access to the utility box. Hence, the utility box is placed under the seat and is generally the last component to be assembled on the rear half of the vehicle.
[0003] The electric vehicles are generally driven by an electric motor powered by a battery module. The battery module requires regular charging to reload its energy reserves when stored electric energy is depleted. The time between successive battery charging sessions is referred to as a charging cycle. The efficiency of an electric vehicle is generally determined by the distance it travels in one charging cycle. The battery module may be stored anywhere within the vehicle layout. In electric vehicles such as two wheeled electric vehicles, the batteries are stored underneath the seat.
[0004] The battery module takes up much of the space available within the vehicle layout and not much space is available for a utility box for storing articles such as tool kit, helmet, documents of the vehicle, water bottle, etc. It may so happen that storage space within the utility box is insufficient to store a helmet therein within, which is an essential requirement in any two wheeled vehicles. One of the solutions for this is to widen the width of the vehicle to increase the capacity of the utility box. However, widening the width of the vehicle is not an economical solution and it may require changing the overall layout of the vehicle. Further, the box is disposed below a seat and in the rear part of the vehicle. One of the common problems with the existing utility box is that when a helmet is to be stored within the utility box, there is no space remaining in the utility box to store other articles, as the size of the helmet covers the entire space of the utility box. Therefore, an objective of the invention is to provide electric vehicle having desired vehicle width and yet having sufficient storage space.
[0005] Conventionally, a pillion handle that has a pair of passenger grips are disposed adjacent to the rider seat assembly and extending rearwardly of the rider seat assembly that is mounted to the frame assembly. Also, a seat lock is provided rearwardly below the rider seat assembly to secure the rider seat assembly to the frame assembly. The rider seat assembly, in an open condition, provides access to the utility box. Generally, the utility box is a load carrying member and is also used for storing the articles of the riders. The utility box can also be individually removed for servicing the parts beneath.
[0006] As the utility box is covered by the rider seat assembly, thereby it secures the utility box. The user may leave valuable items like smart phones, wallet, watches, helmet, documents of the vehicle, or the like in the utility box of the vehicle, since the utility box is covered and locked by the seat latch in the vehicle. The seat assembly is hingedly openable, i.e., the rider can access the items stored in the utility box by opening the seat latch in the vehicle. Therefore, this configuration has a long horizontal portion in the utility box which is only covered by the seat assembly from the top without having any secure connection between them. Such known art increases the chances of stealing of the valuable items stored in the utility box once an unauthorized person is able to open the seat assembly lock. In certain cases, when the vehicle is parked in a parking space or on a road, a person having ill motive of stealing items, easily access the items as stored in the utility box by disengaging the seat lock by accessing the cable which locks the seat assembly. Further, it is noted that the unauthorized person tends to slightly lifts the seat assembly of the vehicle by force flexing the resin base of the seat and accesses/steals the valuable items from the utility box.
