Abstract: Systems devices and methods are described including using during a single clock cycle one Context Based Adaptive Arithmetic Coding (CABAC) engine to encode one bin value and another CABAC engine to encode another bin value. The probability state index of each CABAC engine may provided to the other CABAC engine when the bin values are encoded.
WE CLAIM:
1. A device (110), comprising:
storage means (208);
first Context-Based Adaptive Arithmetic (CABA) coding means (202) to encode a first bin value (binvalO) during a first clock cycle, wherein the first means is configured to store a first probability state index value (wrback_data_pstateidxO) in the storage means when encoding the first bin value; and characterized by:
second Context-Based Adaptive Arithmetic (CABA) coding means (204) to encode a second bin value (binvall) during the first clock cycle , wherein the second means is configured to store a second probability state index value (wrback_data_pstateidxl) in the storage means when encoding the second bin value, wherein the second means (204) is configured to encode the second bin value (binvall) in response to the first probability state index value (wrback_data_pstateidxO).
2. The device of claim 1, further comprising:
third means (206) to generate the first and second bin values by binarizing a syntax element, to determine a first context index value ( ctxidxO) for the first bin value (binvalO), and to determine a second context index value (ctxidxl) for the second bin value (binvall), and wherein the first coding means encodes the first bin value in response to the first context index value and the wherein the second coding means encodes the second bin value further in response to the second context index value.
3. The device of claim 2, the storage means (208) to store the first bin
value (binvalO), the second bin value (binvall), the first context index value
(ctxidxO), and the second context index value (ctxidxl).
performing (308), during a first clock cycle, Context-Based Adaptive Arithmetic (CABA) coding on a first bin value to generate an encoded first bin value (309) and a first probability state index value (310); and characterized by performing (312), during the first clock cycle, CABA coding on a second bin value in response to the first probability state index value (310) to generate an encoded second bin value (313) and a second probability state index value (314).
5. The method of claim 4, wherein performing CABA coding on the first
bin value comprises:
performing recursive interval subdivision arithmetic coding in response to a first context index value and the first bin value to generate the encoded first bin value and the first probability state index value; and
storing the first probability state index value in memory.
6. The method of claim 4, wherein performing CABA coding on the
second bin value comprises:
performing recursive interval subdivision arithmetic coding in response to a second context index value and the second bin value to generate the encoded second bin value and the second probability state index value; and
storing the second probability state index value in the memory.
7. The method of claim 4, wherein performing CABA coding on the first
bin value comprises using a first CABAC engine to perform CABA coding on the
first bin value, and wherein performing CABA coding on the second bin value
comprises using a second CABAC engine to perform CABA coding on the second
bin value.
8. The method of claim 4, further comprising:
receiving a syntax element (302); and
binarizing the syntax element (304) to generate the first bin value and the second bin value.
9. A system including a device according to claim 1,
wherehrto perform CABA coding on the first bin value the first coding means (202) is to:
perform recursive interval subdivision arithmetic coding in response to a first context index value and the first bin value to generate the encoded first bin value and the first probability state index value; and
store the first probability state index value in a context memory (208).
10. The system of claim 9, wherein the storage means (208) is a context memory that includes two read ports and two write ports.
11. The system of claim 9, wherein to perform CABA coding on the second bin value the second coding means (204) is to:
perform-recursive interval subdivision arithmetic coding in response to a second context index value and the second bin value to generate the encoded second bin value and the second probability state index value; and
store the second probability state index value in the context memory.
12. A system including a device according to claim 1, wherein to perform
CABA coding on the first bin value the first coding means (202) is to use a first
CABAC engine to perform CABA coding on the first bin value, and wherein to
perform CABA coding on the second bin value the second coding means (204) is
to use a second CABAC engine to perform CABA coding on the second bin
value.
