Abstract: ABSTRACT Our invention Virtual Machine: Virtual Machine Monitoring and Management System is a Intelligent monitoring systems and methods for virtual environments are understand various components of a virtual infrastructure and how the components interact to provide improved performance analysis to users. The invention is to a monitoring system assesses the performance of virtual machine in the context of the overall performance of the physical server and the environment in which the virtual machine is running. The invention is also track performance metrics over a determined period of time to view changes to the allocation of resources to virtual machines and their location on physical platforms. Moreover, monitoring systems can utilize past performance information from separate virtual environments to project a performance impact resulting from the migration of a virtual machine from one physical platform to another. The invention is also a computer-implemented method for managing virtual machine information in a cloud computing environment includes receiving at a web server, an indication from a user to import an image of a virtual machine to a cloud in the cloud computing environment. The invention is to a at least one descriptor in the image may be parsed in a computer process to identify information (e.g., image meta-data) associated with an infrastructure service to be provided to the user. and infrastructure service item may be created in a computer process, corresponding to an instance of the infrastructure service. The Invention is also service item is created based on the information identified by the parsing, e.g., by storing the image meta-data and the infrastructure service item may be inserted into an infrastructure service catalog of the user.
