A Support Arrangement For Wagon Clamping
Abstract: The invention addresses the changes necessary in the design of Side Discharge Tippler to bring it in conformity with the modified standard of RDSO (Research Design and standards Organisation), Ministry of Railways, India. A railway wagon is placed on a rail platform (5) by a positioning device. The platform rests on a pair of end shields (1). A rectangular cross member called a choke beam (2) connects the pair of end shield (1). The end shield is fixed to and rests on a pivot shaft assembly (3) supported by bearing housing (4). At predefined positions a first, second and third supporting bracket for wagon clamping (6) are attached to the choke beam (2). A clamping arm (7) is hinged to the bracket for wagon clamping (6) on an end and a cross balancer (8) is assembled on the other end. On either side of the cross balancer (8) a wagon clamp (9) is assembled. The wagon clamp (9) includes a rubber pad (10) in the wagon coping gripping area to absorb shock and vibration thereby forming cushioning effect. A hydraulic cylinder actuates the clamping arm (7) and wagon clamp (9) for wagon clamping (11).
