, Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention generally relates to the field of home appliances. In particular, the present invention relates to the field of washing machines.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In the developing world, washing laundry is a difficult and a time-consuming task that typically falls solely on women. Conventionally, on an average, 8 hours are spent on washing laundry on a weekly basis, wherein the ladies wash each piece of their family’s clothing using harsh washing solution by hand. Washing machines have been developed in the art which typically rely of the presence of running water for operation. However, unavailability of running water is a plague that infests the rural parts of the land.
A number of different types of washing machines have been developed in the art. For example, CA2222891 discloses a method and apparatus for cleaning dryer fabrics comprising an ultra-high pressure water jet or jets at reduced water volume. CN103266453B discloses a fabric treating machine, comprising: a housing having a nozzle hole and a fixing hole; basket, said basket rotatably disposed in said housing; and means for spraying water into the inner tub an injection nozzle, the injection nozzle is supported to be inserted into the nozzle hole, wherein the injection nozzle comprises a housing projecting toward the projection combination, and the combining projection is inserted into the fixing hole thereby determining the direction of the injection nozzle of the injection. CN104968853A discloses a laundry washing and drying machine comprising a drum wherein the laundry is placed, a tub wherein the drum moves, a circulation duct wherein the processing air circulation, providing the drying of the laundry, is performed in the drying process after the washing process, a fan that provides circulation of the processing air in the circulation duct, an air-cooled condenser disposed onto the circulation duct, having at least one air channel wherein the processing air passing therethrough is condensed, a condenser inlet through which the processing air enters the condenser, a condenser outlet through which the processing air leaves the condenser, and a spraying device that provides the fibers and lint on the condenser to be cleansed. GB2483723A discloses the apparatus includes a container for processing laundry with a substantially hollow shell having sides angled with respect to a vertical and a base smaller than the sides. The shell may have a V-shaped or parabolic cross-section. At least one fluid aperture in the shell is for admitting a pressurized fluid jet therethrough from a pressurized fluid supply. At least one fluid drainage aperture is also located in the shell. In a preferred embodiment, a machine for washing laundry includes the hollow shell and the pressurised fluid is water. An alternative embodiment of a machine for drying clothes includes the hollow shell and the pressurized fluid is air.
Many such washing machines have been developed in the art. However, the above-mentioned references and many other similar references have one or more of the shortcoming that they require running water for operation. There is therefore felt a need for a washing machine which does not require the availability of running water for optimal operation without compromising the cleanliness of the clothes being washed.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
In the following detailed description, reference is made to the accompanying drawings which form a part hereof, and in which is shown by way of illustration specific embodiments in which the invention may be practiced. These embodiments are described in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the art to practice the invention, and it is to be understood that the embodiments may be combined, or that other embodiments may be utilized and that structural and logical changes may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention. The following detailed description is, therefore, not to be taken in a limiting sense, and the scope of the present invention is defined by the appended claims and their equivalents.
Fig. 1 illustrates a schematic view of a washing machine 100 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The washing machine 100 comprises a housing 102 that houses a primary drum 104 and a secondary drum 106. The housing 102 defines an interior space in which the secondary drum 106 is placed, and the primary drum 104 is disposed within the secondary drum 106. The housing 102 is covered by a top lid 102A. The top lid 102A facilitates the selective loading of the laundry to be washed inside the primary drum 104.
In an embodiment, the washing machine 100 further comprises at least one load cell 108 disposed at an operative top surface of the housing 102, wherein the at least one load cell 108 is configured to sense the weight of the clothes in the primary drum 104. The load cells 108 are mounted on springs for measuring the weight of the clothes being loaded into the primary drum 104. A controller (not shown in figures) is used to compute the amount of water to be permitted inside the primary drum 104 based on the reading provided by the load cells 108.
The washing machine 100 further comprises a water storage tank 110 that is in fluid communication with the secondary drum 106 and the primary drum 104 for allowing quick filling of water in the secondary drum 106 and the primary drum 104. It is to be noted that the water required for washing the clothes can be stored inside the water storage tank 110. As such, all the water required for washing the clothes is made available inside water storage tank 110, and the requirement of the running water is eliminated. One can fill the water storage tank 110 as per the availability of water and can use the washing machine 100 at any time without having to worry about the availability of water.
The washing machine 100 further comprises a motor 112 that is coupled with the primary drum 104 to provide a rotary drive to the primary drum 104. It is to be noted that the primary drum 104 is rotatable while the secondary drum 106 is stationary. At least one turbine blade 114 is coupled to the primary drum 104 and disposed proximal operative bottom end of the primary drum 104, wherein the turbine blades 114 are configured to facilitate rapid entry of water within the primary drum 104 for washing the clothes. In another embodiment, slots 116 are configured on the primary drum 104 adjacent a connection interface of the turbine blade 114 and the primary drum 104 for facilitating the rapid entry of water within the primary drum 104. It is to be noted that the rotary drive provided to the primary drum 104 supplies kinetic energy to the water in the secondary drum 106 by virtue of the turbine blades 114. The additional kinetic energy imparted to the water causes the water to enter the primary drum 104 via the slots 116 in a very rapid manner, which facilitates the washing of the clothes within the primary drum 104. Furthermore, the primary drum also has slots 116A configured in the operative top portion of the primary drum 104 to allow the water to exit the primary drum 104 under the influence of centrifugal force with which the primary drum 104 is rotating.
The washing machine 100 further comprises at least one inlet valve 118 and at least one outlet valve 120. The inlet valve 118 facilitates the entry of the water from the water storage tank 110 into the secondary drum 106 and the primary drum 104. The outlet valve 120 facilitates the drain of used water from the secondary drum 106 and the primary drum 104. In an embodiment, the inlet valve 118 and the outlet valve 120 are solenoid valves.
The washing machine 100 further comprises a dryer 122 that is configured to supply hot air to the primary drum 104 for facilitating drying of clothes in the primary drum 104. The dryer 122 further comprises a heating coil 124, wherein the heating coil is provided with a ceramic coating 126. In another embodiment, the dryer 122 further comprises aluminium fins 128 circumscribing the ceramic coating 126. In yet another embodiment, the dryer further comprises a flow thermostat 130, a metal fuse 132, and a metal thermostat 134.
The washing machine 100 of the present invention facilitates washing of the clothes regardless of the availability of continuous running water. Furthermore, the construction and working of the washing machine 100 requires the use of very basic generic components and does not need tailor made components. As such, the maintenance of the washing machine 100 is also less costly, as there are no tailor-made components involved.
It is to be understood that the above description is intended to be illustrative, and not restrictive. For example, the above-discussed embodiments may be used in combination with each other. Many other embodiments will be apparent to those of skill in the art upon reviewing the above description.
The benefits and advantages which may be provided by the present invention have been described above with regard to specific embodiments. These benefits and advantages, and any elements or limitations that may cause them to occur or to become more pronounced are not to be construed as critical, required, or essential features of any or all of the embodiments.
While the present invention has been described with reference to particular embodiments, it should be understood that the embodiments are illustrative and that the scope of the invention is not limited to these embodiments.
