Watch Combined With Pen Knife And Crown Cork Bottle Opener

Abstract: The field of invention described herein pertains to a wristwatch. Conventionally, wristwatches are designed to show time; sometimes the calendar and some other times also have features like chronograph and world time. Watches with other additional features forming a part of the wristwatch other than those described above like a measuring tape, pen knife and twist-off bottle opener are also found but rarely. The present invention in the form of an improvement made to wristwatches provides with additional small hand tools that would come in handy when the wearer is involved in out door activities like trekking, mountaineering, etc. The invention described herein shows devices like a pen knife (small blade), nail file, nail cleaner, scale, crown cork bottle opener, can opener, screw driver, wire stripper, scoring pin and wire gauge as a part of the watch case rather than as stand alone devices. Apart from this, a lens and magnetic compass are also provided on the bottom cover and the strap respectively.

Specification

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
The invention described herein relates to improvements made in the quartz analogue wrist watches. Additional hand tools like a pen knife (small blade), nail file, nail cleaner, scale, crown cork bottle opener, can opener, screw driver, wire stripper, scoring pin and wire gauge are fitted on wrist watch case in such a way that it allows the use of these tools by the wearer of the watch. Since these devices are fitted beneath the case they do not adversely influence aesthetics of the watch.
Further, a lens fitted on the bottom cover and a magnetic compass fitted on the bracelet is also part of the complete watch and these can also be used by the wearer for intended purposes.
PRIOR ART
Combination of various devices with a wristwatch has been described in the inventions listed below:
CH677158 - Combined wristwatch and pen knife
US6098497 - Bottle opening device (worn on wrist)
CA2242741 - Twist cap bottle opener with hand / wrist attachment
Different tools like a pen knife, bottle opener, etc have been combined and made a part of the wrist watch in the present method. The invention described in the Swiss patent ref CH677158 shows a conventional method of combining a wrist watch with a pen knife i.e. by inserting the pen knife into a slot provided in the case for the purpose. This type of a device will be too big to be worn on the wrist and in the absence of a proper locking mechanism for the pen knife, when placed into the wrist watch case, it is likely to slip out and get lost.
The US patent 6098497 and the Canadian patent ref 2242741 describes the invention of a bottle opening device for a twist-off bottle cap that could be worn on the wrist. These 2 inventions are intended for opening the twist-off type of bottle caps and cannot be used for opening crown cork bottle caps (pull off type bottle sealing device - US46858, 1892).
OBJECTIVES OF INVENTION
The main object of the invention is to provide a wrist watch combined with small hand tools like pen knife (small blade), nail file, nail cleaner, scale, crown cork bottle opener, can opener, screw driver, wire stripper, scoring pin and wire gauge which can be used for intended purposes by the wearer. All these devices are fitted firmly with the case thus ensuring that they do not get displaced from their position during normal usage. However, in the event of any damage, they can be removed and replaced with the help of few commonly available hand tools.

Another object of the invention is to provide the wearer with a lens fitted on the
bottom cover and magnetic compass fitted separately on the bracelet such that
these also can be used at will by the wearer.
Another object of the invention is to provide such small hand tools as explained
above in a wrist watch, without adversely interfering with the aesthetics of a
watch.
STATEMENT OF THE INVENTION
According to this invention, several small hand tools are combined with a wrist watch to allow the wearer of such watches to use these small hand tools for intended purposes, especially during out door activities like trekking, etc, without adversely affecting aesthetics of the watch.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
FIG. 1 shows the crown cork bottle opener
FIG. 2 shows the pen knife
FIG. 3 shows the bottom cover with lens
FIG. 4 shows the pin used for fitting crown cork bottle opener and pen
knife on watch case
FIG. 5 shows spring and C clip
FIG. 6 shows the dowel that acts as a stopper
FIG. 7 shows the cross section of a complete watch
FIG. 8 shows the 3 dimension image of a watch fitted with magnetic
compass
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
FIG.l represents the crown cork bottle opener (1) incorporating the can opener (2), screw driver (3), wire gauge (4). wire stripper (5) and scoring pin (6). Sketches showing the use of crown cork bottle opener (1), the can opener (2) and the wire stripper (5) are also shown in the annexure 1.
FIG. 2 represents the pen knife with the nail cleaner (7), nail file (8), knife edge (9) and the scale (10) incorporated into it. The nail file (8) and the scale (10) are incorporated on either side of the pen knife.
FIG 3 represents the bottom cover with a magnifying lens (11) that could be used for normal purposes like reading small prints, etc.
FIG 4 represents the pin (12) used for fitting the crown cork bottle opener and pen knife on watch case. The pin (12) is first placed into the hole in case from the top of case. The spring (13) shown in FIG. 5 is then placed over the protruding portion of pin (12) from the bottom of the case. The crown cork bottle opener or the pen knife is then placed over the spring after which the C clip (14) is inserted into the groove in the pin thus holding the opener or knife in place. The spring (13) is used to provide sufficient force to hold the opener and knife in a position such that it does not open out during normal wearing of the watch.

A dowel (6) that is shown in FIG. 6 is fitted into the case which will ensure that the opener and knife do not move back during normal usage.
The cross section of a watch showing the method of holding the opener and knife is seen in FIG. 7. The method of fitting the magnetic compass (15) on the watch bracelet is shown in FIG. 8. The magnetic compass (15) has an opening at the bottom through which the bracelet passes and holds it in place.
WE CLAIM
01) A wrist watch combined with small hand tools like a pen knife (small
blade), nail file, nail cleaner, scale, crown cork bottle opener, can opener,
screw driver, wire stripper, scoring pin and wire gauge are fitted on the
watch case in such a manner that it can be used for intended purposes during
outdoor activities like trekking, etc.
02) The wrist watch as claimed in claim 1 has the small hand tools secured with
the case using a dowel with a step for receiving a C clip and coupled with a
spring.
03) The wrist watch as claimed in claim 1 to 2 is attached with each of the
devices without adversely interfering with the aesthetics of a watch.
04) The wrist watch as claimed in claim 1 to 3 has all the devices fitted firmly
with the case thus ensuring that they do not get displaced from their position
during normal usage.
05) The wrist watch as claimed in claim 1 to 4 has a bottom cover to protect the
wearers hand from injury due to projecting elements.
06) The wrist watch as claimed in claim I to 5 has a lens fitted on the bottom
cover through normal means like adhesive or using a gasket.
