CLIAMS:1. A modular water purifier (100) for purification of chemical and microbiological contaminants, the modular water purifier (100) comprising:
a chlorine dosing unit (104) installed at an inlet (210), wherein the chlorine dosing unit (104) is to add a predefined amount of chlorine in the water received, to provide chlorinated water;
an outer body (102) coupled to a chlorine dosing unit (104) to receive and store the chlorinated water;
a filter (106) placed inside the outer body (102) in a leak proof manner to remove suspended particles from the chlorinated water to provide filtered water; and
an adsorption media cartridge (108) removably placed downstream with respect to the filter (106) to receive the filtered water, wherein the adsorption media cartridge (108) comprises:
a chemical adsorption media (606) to selectively remove a toxic contaminant to provide chemically treated water; and
an outlet tube (608) for exit of the chemically treated water from the adsorption media cartridge (108); and
a polisher cartridge (110) removably placed downstream with respect to the adsorption media cartridge (108) to receive the chemically treated water, wherein the polisher cartridge (110) is to remove the chlorine and dissolved matters present in the chemically treated water to provide treated water.

2. The modular water purifier (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the chlorine dosing unit (104) is to add the chlorine in a range of about 0.1 part per million to about 1.2 part per million.

3. The modular water purifier (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the filter (106) further comprises:
a provision of leak proof attachment and detachment of the filter (106) to the outer body (102); and
an air vent (514) to help escape trapped air in the filter (106).

4. The modular water purifier (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the adsorption media cartridge (108) comprising:
a media container (602) containing the chemical adsorption media (606), the media container (602) further comprising:
a lid (612) with perforated section (630), the lid (612) is to provide inlet for the filtered water into the media container (602), wherein the lid (612) comprises a plurality of pins (618) to lock the lid (612) with the media container (602) and to unlock the lid (612) with media container (602) for replacement or regeneration of the adsorption media (606).

The modular water purifier (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein one end of the adsorption media cartridge (108) comprises an inlet for the filtered water, wherein direction of flow of the filtered water through the inlet and along the length of the chemical adsorption cartridge (108) is opposite to the direction of gravity.
