Abstract: This invention relates to an integrated water purifier assembly with post purification decontamination means comprises a reverse osmosis filtration module sequentially connected to a UV filtration module and to a collection chamber wherein said collection chamber is provided with means for transferring purified water collected in said chamber to said UV filtration module at predetermined intervals such that said purified water is subjected to a further UV radiation treatment for further decontaminating the stored purified water.
This invention relates to an integrated water purifier assembly with post purification decontamination means. The invention is particularly directed to purification of water stored in the collection tank periodically to ensure that no recontamination occurs during storage.
Technical field of the invention
Conventionally, water is purified for domestic purposes by passing it through sedimentation filtration module, precarbon filtration module, Ultra Violet (UV) filtration module and Reverse Osmosis (RO) filtration module. Water thus purified is stored for use in collection tanks for the users benefit. Contamination of water stored in the collection tank is a possibility. Water retained in collection tanks for a long period of time has a high chance of recontamination thereby destroying the very purpose of purification. This invention is aimed at overcoming this drawback and enabling availability of safe and pure drinking water even after prolonged storage in the container tank.
Background art
Currently, there are many water purifiers in the market, many of them with storage tank facility. They are generally named as off-line purifiers with collection tank. Many of the collection tanks from integrated part of the purifiers and are therefore difficult to clean up frequently. Often, water purified is stored in these tanks for a prolonged period of time resulting in recontamination. Recontamination is higher when the tank is not sealed to the unit.
Additives are often used to decontaminate post purified water while being retained in the tank but this is not a proof arrangement.
Objects of the invention
Object of this invention is to ensure pure and safe drinking water to the consumer even when the purified water is stored in the container for a lengthy period. Post purified water in the container is periodically subjected to UV radiation and then recycled to the container. This prevents the possibility of contamination during storage and the consumer gets decontaminated water supply.
Summary of the invention
This invention relates to an integrated water purifier assembly with post purification decontamination means which comprises a reverse osmosis filtration module sequentially connected to a UV filtration module and to a collection chamber wherein said collection chamber is provided with means for transferring purified water collected in said chamber to said UV filtration module at predetermined intervals such that said purified water is subjected to a further UV radiation treatment for further decontaminating the stored purified water.
Means for transferring water from the collection tank is preferably a pump which draws water from the collection tank and delivers it through connecting means to the UV filtration module.
Recontamination of stored water in the collection tank is thereby minimized and the user gets safe water for his requirements.
Brief description with reference to the drawings
This invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying block diagram.
IW stands for water input while ROM, UVF and CT stand for reverse osmosis module, UV filtration module and collecting tank respectively while P shows the pump means and O W indicate output water. The arrows indicate the direction of flow of water through the assembly. A microprocessor is provided which is programmed to recycle water from the container tank to the UV module periodically.
The assembly may also have sedimentation and precarbon filtration modules through which water is allowed to flow before it enters the RO filtration module.
The UV filtration chamber is provided with means to supply UV radiation of 253.7 nm wavelength by means of a UV lamp.
Reverse Osmosis membrane filtration module comprises a RO membrane having minute pores to block salts and microorganisms. A pump means and reject water valve are also provided in the RO module.
The assembly also has other conventional features such as non return valve to prevent back flush and water sensor to sense and indicate water level in the collection chamber.
