Technical Field of Invention
The present invention relates to water softener agent and a casing for enclosing water softener agent. Especially, the present invention relates to water softening agent containing phosphate to bind calcium and magnesium ions in the hard water
Background of the Invention
Water is one of the natural elements which is most important for survival of human beings and other living beings. The water availability and the softness will differ from place to place. In the country, the majority of water used is hard water. The situation in metropolitan cities is still worse. Hard water means the water having high amount of dissolved calcium and magnesium elements.
Hard water problem is a pressing problem in most parts of India. The “hardness” of water is due to the presence of calcium (Ca) and Magnesium (Mg) salts which makes washing difficult in households. They are especially harmful in the feed water of boilers, geysers, coffee machines, and kettles etc. because of their tendency to form scales when heated.
The calcium (Ca) and Magnesium (Mg) salt deposits can make hard water unsuitable for many uses. There are a variety of means developed to soften hard water. All of the available means and solutions are expensive and are not easy to install, especially for household purposes. Available means and solutions for softening hard water need regular maintenance which is a difficult task for households.
Therefore, there is a need for developing a low-cost and environment-friendly solution to the hard water problem and which is better, faster and cheaper.
Brief Summary of the Invention
The following summary provides an introduction to selected concepts in a simplified form that are further described below in the detailed description. This summary is not intended to identify key features or essential features of the claimed subject matter, nor is it intended to be used as an aid in determining the scope of the claimed subject matter. Further, while certain disadvantages of other technologies may be noted or discussed herein, the claimed subject matter is not intended to be limited to implementations that may solve or address any or all of the disadvantages of those other technologies. The sole purpose of this Summary is to present some concepts of the claimed subject matter in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented below.
An object of the present invention is to provide a water softening agent containing phosphate for softening hard water.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a water softening agent containing phosphate to bind calcium and magnesium ions in the hard water.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a casing for enclosing water softening agent.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a portable water softening agent.
The present invention discloses a water softening agent for softening hard water. The water softening agent contains food grade phosphate. The food grade phosphate reacts with calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) particles present in the hard water and stabilizes calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) particles present in the hard water. According to one aspect of the invention, the food grade phosphate is in the form of pellets or granules.
According to one aspect of the invention, the food grade phosphate dissolves in water and binds calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) particles.
According to one aspect of the invention, the cartridge is in cylindrical shape with holes on the side surface for leaching of food grade phosphate. According to one aspect of the invention, the casing is closed at top and bottom sides and the casing holds the phosphate material inside.
According to one aspect of the present invention, the casing is made of a plastic material and is porous on the side surfaces. The casing floats on water when the food grade phosphate present inside the casing is over indicating the time to replace the casing with the new one.
According to one aspect of the invention, a method of softening hard water is disclosed.
The method includes the steps of:
a) taking the hard water in a container;
b) dipping the casing containing food grade phosphate in the container;
c) allowing the food grade phosphate to leach into the hard water to bind calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) particles.
According to one aspect of the invention, the water softening agent includes reliable, slow soluble, food grade phosphate. According to one aspect of the invention, the phosphate used is in solid form and is usually in the form of a small bead that resembles clear plastic granules.
According to one aspect of the invention, the phosphate used is water soluble. The phosphate of the present invention binds calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) salts present in the water. The phosphates remove the stickiness of calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) ions. This method breaks down the minerals ensuring that calcium does not stick to walls, buckets, or taps.
According to one aspect of the invention, the phosphate do not remove the Calcium and Magnesium, but stabilize and keeps it in solution whereby scale deposits occur to only a minimal extent.
According to one aspect of the invention, the present invention helps in inhibiting calcium deposition on taps, tiles, faucets, clothes, utensils, washing machines, mirrors etc thereby increasing their life.
According to one aspect of the invention, the present invention protects water systems against scaling and corrosion.
According to one aspect of the invention, the present invention is easy to use and doesn’t require any maintenance during the lifetime of the present invention
According to one aspect of the invention, the present invention saves water, power and time. Besides being cost-effective, the present invention is also eco-friendly as there is no wastage and zero electricity consumed.
According to one aspect of the invention, the present invention is a hardwater softener for domestic purpose. The softened water is used in houses for bathing, cleaning, utility, washing etc and as pre-treated water for RO machines.
According to one aspect of the present invention, the casing floats on the water surface when the phosphate present inside the casing is over. The floating action of the casing indicates for the replacement of the current casing with a new casing filled with phosphate.

The present disclosure is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced or of being carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology used herein is for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.
The use of “including”, “comprising” or “having” and variations thereof herein is meant to encompass the items listed thereafter and equivalents thereof as well as additional items. The terms “a” and “an” herein do not denote a limitation of quantity, but rather denote the presence of at least one of the referenced item.
Reference throughout this specification to “one embodiment,” or similar language means that a particular feature, structure, or characteristic described in connection with the embodiment is included in at least one embodiment of the present invention. Thus, appearances of the phrases “one embodiment,” and similar language throughout this specification may, but do not necessarily, all refer to the same embodiment, different embodiments, or component parts of the same or different illustrated invention.
Each statement of an embodiment is to be considered independent of any other statement of an embodiment despite any use of similar or identical language characterizing each embodiment. The wording “one embodiment”, or the like, does not appear at the beginning of every sentence in the specification, is merely a convenience for the reader’s clarity. However, it is the intention of this application to incorporate by reference the phrasing “an embodiment,” and the like, at the beginning of every sentence herein where logically possible and appropriate.
FIG. 1 illustrates front view of the casing 100 according to an embodiment of the invention. FIG. 2 illustrates perspective view of the casing 200 according to an embodiment of the invention.
As shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, the casing 100 is cylindrical in shape. The casing 100 is made of a plastic material. The casing 100 has holes 104 on its side surface 106. The casing is closed at its top surface 102 and bottom surface 108.
According one embodiment of the invention, the phosphate present inside the casing passes through the holes and gets mixed in water.
In an exemplary embodiment, the casing can hold about 300 to 600 grams of food grade phosphate pellets. The pellets are first filled into tubular structures made of porous fabric. The filled tubular structures are filled in to the casing 100. Then the casing 100 is closed at the top surface 102 and bottom surface 108.
In an exemplary embodiment, the casing 100 filled with food grade phosphate is just dipped into the storage tank of the house (not shown in figure). The food grade phosphate slowly leaches into the water and binds the calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) particles. The user experiences comfort feeling when he/ she starts receiving soft water. The water becomes soft and the skin of the user glows when bathed with the soft water.
In an exemplary embodiment, the life of the taps, pipelines, faucets (not shown in figure) is also increased when water softened by food grade phosphate is used
