Abstract: ABSTRACT WELDING EQUIPMENT AND WELDING METHOD A welding equipment includes a rotation mechanism that integrally rotates two cylindrical shells having a butt part with a groove formed therein, a torch part that repeatedly form a weld bead over the entire perimeter of the groove by 5 continuously performing groove welding at a predetermined welding position in a circumferential direction about a central axis in parallel with rotation of the cylindrical shells, a welding-position shifter that shifts a position at which the weld bead is formed by the torch part, in the axial direction, a detector that detects to-be-detected parts provided on the outer peripheral surfaces of the cylindrical shells at 10 a measuring position that is a position in the circumferential direction immediately before reaching the welding position during rotation of the cylindrical shells, and a controller that controls the welding-position shifter in accordance with detection of the to-be-detected parts by the detector.
