“Welding Gun Force Measurement And Alerting System"

Abstract: “Welding Gun Force Measurement and Alerting System” is an invention related to force measurement of the robotic welding gun (2). A force measuring member (3) is attached with the tip dresser unit, measures the actual force of the welding gun and a controller cum display unit (10) is used to compare it with the advisable value of electrode force for welding the particular material, the said advisable value of force will be differ for welding different material. The controller generates error signal and the said controller is programmed to indicate green light (13) for normal force and red light (11) for abnormal force.  Ref figure 1.

Specification

We claim:
1. A robotic welding gun (2) force measuring unit (3) provided with the welding tip dresser unit (6) by means of a mounting plate (5) is used to measure the actual force of the robotic gun and compares the value with the optimum force value in the controller unit (10) and generate the alerting signal representing green light (13) for normal operation and red light (11) for abnormal operation consists of;
a) force measuring device (3)
b) display (8)
c) control unit (10)
d) alerting system (11) (13)
2. A force measuring unit as claimed in claim 1a, wherein a force measuring member is placed in the corner of a tip dressing unit.
3. A force measuring unit as claimed in claim 1a, wherein a call for force measurement of robotic gun is placed in every tip dressing process.
4. A force measuring unit as claimed in claim 1b, wherein every measurement of the force measuring member is displayed in the said display.
5. A force measuring unit as claimed in claim 1b and 1c, wherein controller unit device houses controller and digital display.
6. A force measuring unit as claimed in claim 1c, wherein actual value of the welding gun force is compared with the preloaded optimum force value.
7. The chip collector unit for tip dresser as claimed in claim 6, wherein the error signal generated by the controller is processed for its correctness.
8. A force measuring unit as claimed in claim 7 and 1d, wherein the alerting system initiate a green light for the ideal measurement of the welding gun force.
9. A force measuring unit as claimed in claim 7, 8 and 1d, wherein the said controller signal initiate red light for every abnormal welding gun force value.
10. A force measuring unit as claimed as claimed in above claims, a manual technical assistance required for every red signal.
, Description:DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
[0010] The present invention discloses a welding tip dresser unit equipped with welding tip force measurement unit. It is designed to calculate the gun force in an intermittent time and alert the supervisors regarding force aberrations if any.

[0011] A loadcell (3) for measuring robotic welding gun is placed in the corner of the said tip dressing unit (6) using a mounting plate (5) as shown in figure 1. A robotic welding gun will be in call for measuring the gun force after every tip dressing process. The said loadcell (3) has notches at the top and bottom to receive positive and negative electrode of the welding gun, in the manner the said loadcell measures the actual value of force of a robotic welding gun and sends the data to the controller cum display unit (10), it displays the actual value and the said microcontroller unit (10) is fed with the set value of the welding force for welding a particular job and the said set value may be changed for welding different job material. The microcontroller is programmed to compare the set value and the actual value of the welding gun force. In an every gun force measurement, the programmed controller compares it with the pre stored desired value of the gun force, the said controller program also checks for allowable tolerance and generate error signal. The controller is designed to send signal to alerting system.

[0012] The said alerting system is equipped with green and red lighting. A green light for permissible/normal value of gun force and a red alerting system, if the said force exceeds the permissible limits. The said error signal energize green light for permissible value of gun force and the error signal energize red light for abnormal errors. If the red signal is raised the robotic welding is programmed to stop functioning and for the said functioning manual error rectification is needed. After rectification the gun force measuring and alerting process continues until the green signal is raised for the functioning of robotic welding.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
[0013] Figure 1 shows the isometric view of the load cell and display unit
associated with welding tip dresser unit and welding gun. In the figure part 1
shows robot welding gun, part 2 shows welding tip, part 3 shows the load
cell, part 4 shows control cable, part 5 shows mounting plate to hold the load
cell, Part 6 shows tip dressing unit, part 7 shows the stand to hold tip
dressing unit and load cell arrangement, part 8 shows gun force unit display,
part 9 shows ON/OFF switch, part 10 shows the digital meter, part 11 shows
the red indication lighting, part 12 shows yellow indication, part 13 shows
the green indication.
[0014] Figure 2 shows the schematic representation load cell with its
mounting plate. In figure 2 part 14 shows the mounting plate, part 15 shows
the load cell, part 16 shows the bolting screw and part 17 shows the hose.
[0015] Figure 3 shows the schematic diagram of load cell.
[0016] Figure 4 shows the schematic diagram of load cell mounting plate.
