Specification

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present disclosure generally relates to a body cream formulation, and in
particular to a stable whipped body cream formulation with better aesthetic look
desired function on skin.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Whipping creams find wide applicability in diverse industries. For instance,
one of the most common applications is, as a topping or filling material for
confectionery and bakery products.
[0003] Further, there are various products popular amongst consumers, which contain
gas bubbles in order to provide the desired benefits in a better way and make it
appealable. These products typically include cosmetics and foods.
[0004] Cosmetic foamed compositions such as skin creams, shaving creams, hair
products, liquid soaps, and the like provide visual and sensory appeal to the consumer.
[0005] One of the drawbacks associated with the foamed compositions is that the
foams may become unstable upon storage or handling, i.e., the foam size and shape is
affected. For instance, the foam size gets increased over the time period. Further,
uneven distribution of foam might also be observed in such compositions, wherein the
top end of the foam container has dense foam, and the lower end is flat.
[0006] Emulsion of whipped creams should be stable at room temperature, without
significant thickening and yet need to be aerated smooth firm foam. Therefore, there is
still a need for whipped cream which produces a whip which is stable, uniform and
provides better aesthetic look and desired function on skin.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0007] In an aspect of present disclosure, there is provided a whipped body cream
formulation comprising: (a) sodium polyacrylate (and) dimethicone (and)
cyclopentasiloxane (and) trideceth-6 (and) PEG/PPG-18/18 dimethicone; (b) xanthan

Process for the preparation of the formulation:
[0056] A process for the preparation of a whipped body cream formulation,
comprising :

Preparation of water phase: Xanthan gum, acrylates/C 10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, di-sodium EDTA, glycerine were mixed with water and heated at a temperature in the range of 20-35 °C and stirred continuously for a period in the range of 5-30 minutes and heated at a temperature of 80 °C to obtain water phase. Preparation of oil phase: mineral oil, isopropyl palmitate, ethylene glycol distearate, glyceryl stearate, cetaryl alcohol, tocopheryl acetate, stearic acid, petroleum jelly and shea butter were mixed and heated at a temperature of 80 °C to obtain oil phase. Formation of first mixture (emulsion): Further, oil phase was dispersed in the water phase, and the mixture was homogenized for a period of 20 minutes at a stirring speed in the range of 80-100 rpm to obtain the first mixture. First mixture was allowed to cool and the temperature was maintained at 35 °C.
At this stage addition of sodium polyacrylate (and) dimethicone (and) cyclopentasiloxane (and) trideceth-6 (and) PEG/PPG-18/18 dimethicone to the first mixture was carried out at a temperature in the range of in the range of 45-50 °C, while stirring for a period of 20 minutes at a speed of 150 rpm to obtain a second mixture. If lumps were observed further mixing was done for at least 5 minutes to obtain a lump free mixture.
Further, third mixture was prepared by mixing distilled water and D-panthenol at a temperature in the range of 40-45 °C. Similarly preservatives such as phenoxyethanol and methylisothiazolinone (and) methyl paraben (and) phenoxyethanol (and) propyl paraben were mixed to obtain a mixture comprising of preservatives. Dimethicone (and) dimethicone crosspolymer and skin conditioning agent dimethicone were mixed to obtain a mixture comprising of silicone and skin conditioning agent. In the next step, second mixture, third mixture, mixture comprising of preservatives and mixture comprising of silicone and skin conditioning agent were mixed at a temperature in the range of 40-45 °C while stirring for a period in the range of 5-20 minutes to obtain fourth mixture. Post preparation of fourth mixture homogenization was carried out for a period of 20 minutes. Finally addition of colour, fragrance and butylated hydroxytoluene was carried out at a temperature in the range of 30-35 °C to

Example 2
Non-Working formulations:
[0057] Table 2 depicts the non working example B, C, D, E and F, wherein absence of
xanthum gum in formulation B led to a product which was not able to withstand the
extra shear to achieve the desired formulation.
[0058] With respect to formulation C and D, wherein acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate
crosspolymer and sodium polyacrylate (and) dimethicone (and) cyclopentasiloxane
(and) trideceth-6 (and) PEG/PPG-18/18 dimethicone respectively were absent, it was
observed that the obtained formulation did not have the desired texture.
[0059] Therefore, it can be inferred from formulation B, C and D, that xanthum gum,
acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer and sodium polyacrylate (and)
dimethicone (and) cyclopentasiloxane (and) trideceth-6 (and) PEG/PPG-18/18
dimethicone are essential components in the formation of formulation.
[0060] Furtheremore, in order to examine whether any other thickening agent and
polymer were suitable for the preparation of formulation, formulation E comprising
crosslinked polyacrylic acid as a substitute to sodium polyacrylate (and) dimethicone
(and) cyclopentasiloxane (and) trideceth-6 (and) PEG/PPG-18/18 dimethicone and
formulation F comprising hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose as a substitute to xanthum
gum, were tried.
[0061] It was observed that for formulation E, the texture of the formulation was not
as desired. Similarly formulation F too did not have the desired texture and
additionally the formulation was more sticky and stringy on application.
