Specification

[001] The present subject matter described herein, relates to a vehicle construction and more particularly, relates to a mounting attachment for securing a wire harness.
BACKGROUND AND PRIOR ART:
[002] Vehicle electrical wiring systems are typically configured to provide electrical power and/or control signals to various electrical components throughout the vehicle. For example, a wire harness may deliver electrical power and/or control signals for driving motors, heaters and lights, internal and external communication means. To limit movements of wire harnesses during vehicle operation, cable ties and brackets are employed to secure the wire harnesses on support structures of the vehicle, such as the chassis.
[003] Generally, the support structures for securing the wire harness are made up of sheet metal for providing necessary strength and rigidity, such that the support structures do not collapse or deform during clamping of the wire harness. However, the sheet metal support structures are cost inclusive, and also increases weight. Further, the sheet metal support structures are prone to inclusion of sharp edges during manufacturing. Such sharp edges lead to wear of the sheet metal support structures. Further, such sharp edges also lead to wear of wire harness being clamped on the support structure, as the wire harness generally comes into contact with the edges of support structure during vehicle running conditions.
[004] Chinese Patent publication CN105391230B provides a wire harness fixing structure, the wire harness fixing structure comprising: a cooling medium is provided with a relief valve (18) of the cooling medium tank (16); a sensor (12), which sensor is installed in the coolant tank (16); a connector terminal (14), the connecting terminal is positioned outside the coolant release valve (18) when

viewed from the position of mounting the sensor (12); a wire harness (10), which harness the sensor (12) and the connection terminal (14) electrically connected ; and a bracket (20), the carrier is fastened to the cooling medium tank (16) and fixed to the wire harness (10). A bracket (20) comprises a fastening portion (22) and the holding portion (26), said portion being fastened is fastened to the cooling medium tank (16), said holding portion (26) having a cooling medium facing closed on one side a substantially U-shape relief valve (18) and holding the wire harness (10) within said U-shape.
[005] However, the assembly, shape, operation and location of the parts mentioned in the prior art are not similar to the present disclosure.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
[006] The principal objective of the present invention is to provide a wire harness attachment structure made of plastic / resin and having strength and rigidity comparable to sheet metal support structures.
[007] Another object of the present subject matter is to provide a simple, cost effective, and efficiently designed wire harness attachment structure that is distinct from all conventional designs, and includes smooth and finished edges providing no wear to the wire harness.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
[008] The present invention relates to a wire harness attachment structure for a vehicle. The wire harness attachment structure includes a vertical member having a first mounting portion on a front face, and a second mounting portion on a side edge, the first mounting portion and the second mounting portion being orthogonal to each other, the second mounting portion being a U-shaped cuboidal extension on the side edge, wherein, the first mounting portion includes a first mounting slot, the first mounting slot being surrounded by alternate rectilinear depths and rectilinear protrusions defining a corrugated / serrated cross-section,

and the second mounting portion includes a second mounting slot on a vertical face of the U-shaped cuboidal extension defining the second mounting portion.

In an embodiment, the wire harness attachment structure (100) includes a vertical member (102) having a first mounting portion (104) on a front face (106), and a second mounting portion (108) on a side edge (110). In an embodiment, the first mounting portion (104) and the second mounting portion (108) are orthogonal to each other. Further in an embodiment, the second mounting portion (108) is a U-shaped cuboidal extension on the side edge (110). In an example, the wire harness attachment structure (100) is made up of a plastic or resin like material, and the first mounting portion (104) and the second mounting portion (108) are integrated with the wire harness attachment structure (100) during manufacturing.
[0020] In an embodiment, the first mounting portion (104) of the wire harness attachment structure (100) includes a first mounting slot (116). Further as shown in Fig. la, the first mounting slot (116) is surrounded by alternate rectilinear depths (118) and rectilinear protrusions (120). Alternatively, the depths (118) and the protrusions (120) may include any regular or irregular geometrical shape. Further, the second mounting portion (108) includes a second mounting slot (124) on a vertical face (126) of the U-shaped cuboidal extension defining the second mounting portion (108). In an example, the first mounting slot (116) and the

second mounting slot (124) are configured to removably receive clamps (90) for securing the wiring harness (95) to the wire harness attachment structure (100). Although, the first mounting portion (104) and the second mounting portion (108) are configured for securing the wiring harness (95), alternatively, either of the first mounting portion (104) and the second mounting portion (108) may be configured to receive any sensor or the like device along with the wiring harness (95).

As shown, the second mounting portion (108) includes the second mounting slot (124) on the vertical face (126) of the U-shaped cuboidal extension defining the second mounting portion (108). In an embodiment, the U-shaped cuboidal extension provides rigidity to the wire harness attachment structure (100), and a discontinuous bending axis along the section B-B', as against a straight bending axis. Such a discontinuous bending axis provides effective distribution of load, thereby enabling less deformation of the wire harness attachment structure (100). Further, the U-shaped cuboidal extension aides in easy clamping of the wiring harness (95).
[0023] Fig. 4 illustrates a back view of the wire harness attachment structure (100) in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown, the wire harness attachment structure (100) is provided with a plurality of ribbed structures (402) arranged symmetrically around the first mounting slot (116). In

an example, the plurality of ribbed structures (402) provides additional rigidity to the wire harness attachment structure (100).
[0024] The wire harness attachment structure (100) as described above includes necessary strength and rigidity, such that the support structures do not collapse or deform during clamping of the wiring harness (95). Further, the wire harness attachment structure (100) being made up of plastic or resin like material, includes smooth edges that does not cause wear and tear of the wiring harness (95).
[0025] Although embodiments for the present subject matter have been described in language specific to structural features, it is to be understood that the present subject matter is not necessarily limited to the specific features described. Rather, the specific features and methods are disclosed as embodiments for the present subject matter. Numerous modifications and adaptations of the system/component of the present invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art, and thus it is intended by the appended claims to cover all such modifications and adaptations which fall within the scope of the present subject matter.
