Wiring Harness Assembly

Abstract: A wiring harness assembly (100) is described herein. In an embodiment,, the wiring harness assembly (100) includes a sealing member (108) having a plurality of through-holes (202). The plurality of through-holes (202) can be formed substantially along a central longitudinal axis of the sealing member (108). The wiring harness assembly (100) further includes a wire assembly (104) having a plurality of wires (106), each of the plurality of wires (106) individually passing through a corresponding through-hole (202) from the plurality of through-holes (202) in the sealing member (108). The wire assembly (104) can connect two or more electronic components (118). In addition, the wiring harness assembly (100) can include a back plate (110) adapted to mount the sealing member on a support structure (102) and the wire assembly (104) is inserted through a central cavity (302) in the back plate (110).

Specification

CLIAMS:1. A wiring harness assembly (100), the wiring harness assembly (100) comprising:
a sealing member (108) having a plurality of through-holes (202), wherein the plurality of through-holes (202) are formed substantially along a central longitudinal axis of the sealing member (108);
a wire assembly (104) having a plurality of wires (106), each of the plurality of wires (106) individually passing through a corresponding through-hole (202) from the plurality of through-holes (202) in the sealing member (108), wherein the wire assembly (104) is adapted to connect two or more electronic components (118); and
a back plate (110), wherein the wire assembly (104) is inserted through a central cavity (302) in the back plate (110), the back plate (110) being adapted to mount the sealing member (108) on a support structure (102).

2. The wiring harness assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the sealing member (108) includes a sealing flange (204) extending radially from a body of the sealing member (108) to form a stepped structure of the sealing member (108) along a direction of the central longitudinal axis.

3. The wiring harness assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the sealing member (108) is adapted to be disposed in a counter bore (116) in the support structure (102).

The wiring harness assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plurality of through-holes (202) provided in the sealing member (108) includes a central through-hole (206) and a plurality of peripheral through-holes (208), the central through-hole (208) having a centre coaxial with the central longitudinal axis, wherein each of the plurality of peripheral through-holes (208) is equidistant from the central longitudinal axis in a radial direction.

5. The wiring harness assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of through-holes (202) is equidistant from adjacent through-holes (202) in a circumferential direction.

6. The wiring harness assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the support structure (102) is an internal combustion engine.

7. An internal combustion (IC) engine comprising:
a plurality of electronic components (118) coupled to at least one operating component;
a wiring harness assembly (100) for coupling the plurality of electronic components (118) to the at least one operating component, the wiring harness assembly (100) comprising,
a sealing member (108) having a plurality of through-holes (202), the plurality of through-holes (202) being formed substantially along a central longitudinal axis of the sealing member (108), wherein the sealing member (108) comprises a sealing flange (204) extending radially from a body of the sealing member (108) to form a stepped structure of the sealing member (108) along a direction of the central longitudinal axis; and
a plurality of wires (106) to operably couple the plurality of electronic components (118) to the operating component, each of the plurality of wires (106) individually passing through a corresponding through-hole (202) from the plurality of through-holes (202) in the sealing member (108); and
a support structure (102) for mounting the sealing member (108), the support structure (102) comprising a counter bore (116) having a stepped structure complimentary to the stepped structure of the sealing member (108) for forming a fluid-tight seal between the support structure (102) and the sealing member (108).

8. The IC engine as claimed in claim 7, wherein the support structure (102) is one of a cylinder head and a cylinder head cover of the IC engine.

9. The IC engine as claimed in claim 7, wherein the support structure (102) is an engine block of the IC engine.

10. The IC engine as claimed in claim 7, wherein the wiring harness assembly (100) further comprises a back plate (110) for fixing the sealing member (108) to the support structure (102), wherein the plurality of wires (106) is inserted through a central cavity (302) in the back plate (110).
