Abstract: A zero contact plastic lid and the method of making thereof, which comprises of its base being made of plastic having SS304 stainless steel sheet insert and food grade silicon gasket, wherein the SS304 stainless steel sheet insert is over moulded completely with the plastic lid on the bottom side of the lid and the food grade silicon gasket which is extruded after moulding and is manually placed on the bottom part of the lid which has the SS304 stainless steel sheet insert, which is then placed on top of the bowl / container / vessel / box, and held in place with a locking mechanism i.e. the moving flaps on the sides of the lid, the lid is partially over moulded, houses a SS304 stainless steel sheet insert which is completely covered with plastic, further, the top portion of the plastic lid has depressions which protrude out towards the bottom side of the plastic lid, inseparable lid contains a wall of plastic on the bottom of the lid, which matches the depressions appearing on the top side of the SS304 stainless sheet insert to give grip to the SS304 stainless sheet insert and the SS304 stainless sheet insert and the silicon gasket are held in place by the groves appearing on the walls of the bottom side of the plastic lid, in order to avoid any contact with food / liquid and to prevent any leakages to take place.
DESC:The primary object of the invention is to avoid the direct contact of food with the plastic lid (could be applied to other container, boxes, vessels, bowls) to a level which is zero or negligible.
Further it is also an object of the present invention to have a plastic lid to be completely over moulded with food grade polypropylene plastic with an SS304 stainless steel sheet insert and a food grade silicon gasket, the combination of the three components mentioned herein aid in making the food contained in the bowl / container / vessel / box to have zero or negligible contact with plastic while being leak proof and keeping the food safe.
Further it is also an object of the present invention to have a complete over moulded lid with self-locking mechanism which would make the food contained in the bowl / container / vessel / boxes to have zero or negligible contact with plastic, while being leak proof and keeping the food safe.
Further it is also an object of the present invention is to provide lids to sports bottles and other beverage and food bowl / container / vessel / boxes which are primarily made from plastic, since in the recent years people are learning of and are concerned of leaching from plastic containers into fluids that can cause cancer among other things. Prior art patents fail to address the problem of preventing liquid in bowl / container / vessel / boxes made of material such as stainless steel, glass, porcelain etc., from contacting with the plastic lid or cap. Therefore, to avoid and resolve the problems associated with prior art and in the conventionally available lids or caps, the present invention over comes all the above mentioned problems by making a lid with over moulded SS304 stainless steel sheet insert, and having a self-locking and leak proof mechanism while being food safe.
Further it is also an object of the present invention to provide people with an healthy alternative, since bowls / container / vessels / boxes made of plastic for their durability and aesthetic appearance cannot prevent the contact of food / liquid contained therein to not have any contact with it, but the present invention provides the opportunity to have the aesthetics of plastic while preventing any contact of the food or liquid in the bowl / bottle / container / vessel contained therein to have zero or negligible contact with plastic, while being leak proof and keeping the food safe and making it a healthy alternative to the people who are health conscious and prefer to keep themselves safe from the leaching of plastic which increases the chances / probability of aiding cancer. Therefore, to avoid and resolve the problems associated with prior art and in the conventionally available lids / caps, the present invention over comes all the above mentioned problems by making the lid with moulded SS304 stainless steel sheet insert and having a self-locking and leak proof while being food safe. ,CLAIMS:1. A zero contact plastic lid and the method of making thereof, which comprises of its base being made of plastic having SS304 stainless steel sheet insert and food grade silicon gasket, wherein the SS304 stainless steel sheet insert is over moulded completely with the plastic lid on the bottom side of the lid and the food grade silicon gasket which is extruded after moulding and is manually placed on the bottom part of the lid which has the SS304 stainless steel sheet insert, which is then placed on top of the bowl / container / vessel / box, and held in place with a locking mechanism i.e. the moving flaps on the sides of the lid, the lid is partially over moulded, houses a SS304 stainless steel sheet insert which is completely covered with plastic, further, the top portion of the plastic lid has depressions which protrude out towards the bottom side of the plastic lid, inseparable lid contains a wall of plastic on the bottom of the lid, which matches the depressions appearing on the top side of the SS304 stainless sheet insert to give grip to the SS304 stainless sheet insert and the SS304 stainless sheet insert and the silicon gasket are held in place by the groves appearing on the walls of the bottom side of the plastic lid, in order to avoid any contact with food / liquid and to prevent any leakages to take place.
2. Zero contact plastic lid as claimed in claim 1, wherein a SS304 stainless steel sheet insert is over moulded with polypropylene clear plastic as well as a silicon extruded gasket which aids to seal the bowl / container / vessel / box to avoid leakage;
3. Zero contact plastic lid as claimed in claim 1, and method of making thereof as claimed in above claims, wherein use of SS304 stainless steel sheet insert lid to make the lid completely safe and the plastic part gives flexibility of good locking and better aesthetic look;
4. Zero contact plastic lid as claimed in claim 1, and claimed above claims, wherein the silicon gasket has a tiny fine grove on the surface which when comes into contact with the surface the bowl / container / vessel / box ensures proper grip avoiding any leakage;
5. The process of making the lid in the subject invention with insert moulded as claimed in claim 1, comprising :
a. A mould is loaded in the moulding machine, cleaned SS304 stainless steel sheet insert are inserted in the mould individually, and closed, plastic material set to a particular processing temperature is then injected into the mould for forming the desired shape, followed by cooling, after providing sufficient time for cooling, the plastic lid in the mould with the SS304 stainless steel sheet insert is ejected out of the mould and then every piece is checked for the desired quality;
b. The silicon material is blended with desired additives to make it food grade and is then processed in the mould of a desired shape and size which is then extruded in continuous length and the desired length is taken and both ends are pasted by real time vulcanising to form a ring over the lid, followed by the silicon gasket is assembled with the insert moulded lid manually.
