A Buffered Novel Antiseptic Combination Of Povidone Iodine And Triclosan And Formulations Thereof

Abstract: The present invention relates to a buffered novel antiseptic combination of Povidone Iodine and formulation thereof. The present a buffered novel antiseptic combination of Povidone Iodine and Triclosan is synergistic to provide long duration of activity by long cumulative residual microbial activities. The formulation are also contains Sodium EDTA as a chelating agent which enhance the activity of Triclosan. The formulations are also having emollient and moisturizing ingredients contribute to the ability of the caregiver to maintain their hands in a fit condition. Also it can be formulated in different dosage forms like Scrub, Gel, Lotion, Gargle and Ointment etc. Triclosan combined with Povidone-Iodine resulted in the prevention of bacterial regrowth at 3 hours such as occurred when Povidone-Iodine alone was used also prevent the development of the resistance.
