TECHNICAL FIELD
Present disclosure in general, relates to a washing machine. Particularly, but not exclusively,
the disclosure relates to a dispenser tray for a washing machine. Further, the embodiments of
the disclosure, discloses a detergent dispenser assembly for a washing machine.
BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE
Conventionally, a washing machine is provisioned with a separate compartment for
dispensing the detergent. A discrete assembly is manufactured and positioned either at the
exterior of the washing machine or within the cabinet of a washing compartment, in order to
blend and convey the detergent along with water to the washing compartment. The detergent
blended water would aid in cleansing the soiled clothes.
During operation of the washing machine, a motor is equipped to tumble and rotate a drum
loaded with soiled clothes for cleaning within the washing machine. Rotational speed of the
motor would cause the washing machine to vibrate. This vibration is progressively
transferred to the components attached and secured to the washing machine, thereby vibrating
the components secured to the washing machine. Further, washing machines are equipped
with detergent dispensing means or detergent trays at a convenient reach for the user. The
user during operation of the washing machine tends to open the detergent tray for adding the
detergent into the dispenser. When the detergent tray is opened, the detergent tray due to
gravity tends to sag and move in vertical and horizontal directions within the slider or groove.
Thus, these components subject to vibration, results in component failure due to fatigue
stress. On prolonged usage, the fixture of the components fails, thereby rendering nonusability
of the product. Additionally, the amplitude of vibration of these loosely positioned
components would produce undesirable noises.
In general, the detergent tray is fitted into the cabinet of the washing machine such that,
extrusion of the detergent drawer from the cabinet feels wobbly and cheap. Also, when the
detergent tray is extruded, the detergent tray tends to sag due to gravity and vibrates along
vertical and horizontal planes, thereby making the arrangement inconvenient to the user.
In view of the above, there is a need for developing a damper assembly for a washing
machine component such as a detergent dispenser, which overcomes one or more limitations
stated above.

Further, the plurality of slider arms (3) are held within the at least one damper member (5)
such that, the resilient forces from the one or more resilient members (10) exert horizontal
force on the plurality of slider arms (3). Since the one or more resilient members (10) apply a
constant restricted force on the plurality of slider arms (3), the detergent dispenser tray (2)
has mitigated horizontal movement of the detergent dispenser tray (2) in open position (OP).
In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the restricting motion applied by the at least one
protrusion (4) of the plurality of slider arms (3) and the one or more resilient members (10)
ensures that the detergent dispenser tray (2) does not operate to open and close positions, due
to vibration produced by the washing machine.
Figure 7 is an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure which illustrates top sectional
view detergent dispenser assembly (100) in closed position (CP). On operating the detergent
dispenser tray (2) into a closed position (CP), the at least one protrusion (4) of the plurality of
slider arms (3) moves along the surface of the at least one first skid plate (6), and the at least
one protrusion (4) engages in the at least one cut-out (14b). In an embodiment, engagement
between the at least one protrusion (4) and the at least one cut-out (14b), ensures that the at
least one protrusion (4) is in contact with the at least one stopper plate (9) receives and
secures the at least one protrusion (4) of the plurality of slider arms (3). Further, the at least
one stopper plate (9) aids in damping the vibration transmitted from the washing machine to
the detergent dispenser assembly (100), when the detergent dispenser tray (2) is in closed
position (CP).
In an embodiment, the point contact between the at least one protrusion (4) and the at least
one first skid plate (6), mitigates the vertical component vibrations transmitted from the
washing machine, thereby avoiding the vertical movement of the detergent dispenser tray (2).
The at least one protrusion (4) of the plurality of slider arms (3) is snap-locked and restricted
by the at least one cut out (14b), in order to restrain the detergent dispenser tray (2) in the at
least one damper member (5).
In an embodiment, the plurality of slider arms (3) is in line contact with the at least one
second skid plate (7) of the at least one damper member (5).
12
In an embodiment, the at least one protrusion (4) is provided on at least one of the top portion
and bottom portion of the plurality of slider arms (3).
Figure 8 illustrates another embodiment of the at least one damper member (5). Referring to
figure 8, the at least one damper member (5) is provisioned with three resilient members (10),
wherein each of the three resilient members (10) offers resisted sliding motion to the
detergent dispenser tray (2) thereby mitigating vibration transmitted from the washing
machine, at various positions of the detergent dispenser tray (2) in open position (OP) and
closed position (CP).
ADVANTAGES
In an embodiment, the horizontal and vertical movement of the detergent dispenser tray in
open position and closed position is mitigated.
In an embodiment, the detergent dispenser tray is prevented from sliding to open condition
during operation of the washing machine due to gravity and vibration.
In an embodiment, the detergent dispenser tray is configured with a linear draw motion,
thereby minimizing the force required to operate the detergent dispenser tray by the user.
In an embodiment, due to resilient forces exerted on the slider arms by the one or more
resilient members, the detergent dispenser tray stays in place at all positions between open
position and closed position.
