Chitosan Based Multifunctional Liquid Bio Fertilizers And Methods Of Preparation Thereof
Abstract: The present invention provides chitosan based multifunctional liquid biofertilizer comprising carboxymethylcellulose, polyvinylpyrrolidone, glycerol, chitosan and at least one plant-growth promoting rhizobacteria selected from Bacillus sp. RS4T, Labrys endophyticus RP1T and combinations thereof. The invention represents an advancement in the field of biofertilizers. The liquid biofertilizers of the present invention exhibit high plant growth promotion activities, improved shelf life/stability, leads to avoidance of environmental pollution and is an improvement over commercially available biofertilizers.

Specification
We claim:
1. A multifunctional liquid biofertilizer comprising carboxymethylcellulose, polyvinylpyrrolidone, glycerol, chitosan and at least one plant-growth promoting rhizobacteria selected from a group comprising Bacillus sp. RS4T, Labrys endophyticus RP1T and combinations thereof.
2. The multifunctional liquid biofertilizer as claimed in claim 1, wherein carboxymethylcellulose is present at a concentration in the range from 0.5-5g/100 mL.
3. The multifunctional liquid biofertilizer as claimed in claim 1, wherein polyvinylpyrrolidone is present at a concentration in the range from 0.5-5g/100 mL.
4. The multifunctional liquid biofertilizer as claimed in claim 1, wherein glycerol is present at a concentration in the range from 0.5-20 ml/100 mL.
5. The multifunctional liquid biofertilizer as claimed in claim 1, wherein chitosan is present at a concentration in the range from 0.1-2 g/100 mL.
6. The multifunctional liquid biofertilizer as claimed in claim 1, wherein Bacillus sp. RS4T is present at a concentration in the range from 2xl06 to 2xl010 cfu/mL.
7. The multifunctional liquid biofertilizer as claimed in claim 1, wherein Labrys endophyticus RP1T is present at a concentration in the range from 2xl06 to 2xl010 cfu/mL.
8. A method for preparing the multifunctional liquid biofertilizer as claimed in claim 1, said method comprising the steps of:
a. culturing at least one one plant-growth promoting rhizobacteria selected from a
group comprising Bacillus sp. RS4T, Labrys endophyticus RP1T and combinations thereof;
b. preparing a mixture of carboxymethylcellulose, polyvinylpyrrolidone, glycerol
and chitosan; and
c. adding the bacterial suspension prepared in step (a) to the mixture of step (b) to
obtain the liquid biofertilizer.
9. The method as claimed in claim 8, wherein carboxymethylcellulose is present at a concentration in the range from , polyvinylpyrrolidone is present at a concentration in the range from, glycerol is present at a concentration in the range from and chitosan is present at a concentration in the range from.
10. A multifunctional liquid biofertilizer obtained by a method as claimed in claim 8.
