Abstract: The present invention provides a differential gutter wheel where in rim and disc are welded in the new construction. A differential gutter wheel comprises a flat base rim back section without gutter profile, an extended disk contains the gutter wall, a joint zone weld connecting extended disk edge surface and flat base rim back section and thus forms the required gutter profile. Thereby, the differential gutter wheel is shaped in a desired way, so as to increase the performance of the wheel. Further, the differential gutter wheel profile enables to higher inside clearance for brake component to be placed. In addition, the differential gutter wheel affords elimination of gutter forming operations during manufacturing and reduces the input raw material.
DESC:FIELD OF INVENTION
[001] The embodiments herein generally relate to a vehicle wheel. More specifically, the embodiments described herein relate to a differential gutter wheel of a vehicle. Particularly, relates to a differential gutter wheel with a flat base rim back section connects bended disk edge surface and further, disk edge surface joins flat base of rim back section and lock ring to facilitate reduced manufacturing operation in rim making, more inside clearance and weight reduction in a vehicle wheel assembly.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[002] The rim makes up an outer circular design of the wheel and holds the tire. The standard automotive wheel rim is made from a rectangular sheet metal. Here, the sheet metal plate is circled to produce a cylindrical sleeve with the two free edges of the sleeve welded together. Two slopes on the rim permit the rim to hold the tire. In that one slope is fixed and another slope can be detached. The detachment facility provided for easy mounting of tire, tube, flap, etc. The detached side is provided with spring flange, which can be seated well on the rim using the profile called gutter. In order to support the cylindrical rim structure, a disc is made by stamping the metal plate. Further, a lock ring in a wheel is used to prevent components from becoming loose during rotation.
[003] Rim, lock ring and other parts of the wheel plays an important role in determining the performance of a vehicle. Primarily, size and weight of the wheel matters in the vehicle performance. In general, heavy wheels can reduce performance and wider wheels don’t provide grip. If the weight of the wheel is heavier, then the wheel influences trouble to turn a corner, slow up or accelerate than a lightweight wheel.
[004] Figure 1 illustrates a perspective view 100 of an existing rim gutter section. The existing rim gutter section comprises a rim 101, a disc 102, a joint zone weld connecting rim and disc 103, a bended rim back section 104 and a disk edge surface 105. In the existing profile, a bended rim back section 104 extends towards lock ring and a disk edge surface 105 connects with rim back section.
[005] On the whole, the existing wheel profile reduces inner space of the wheel rim, which is required for placing the caliper clearance. Also, there are multiple steps involved in the rim making to achieve the specified profile.
[006] Therefore, there is a need for a differential gutter wheel with modifications to overcome the problem associated with the prior art. Further, there is a need for a differential gutter wheel to reduce weight of the wheel for getting better riding quality.
