Specification

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Inner Pack/Container or Product holder is normally used to keep the product in the desired position in the primary packaging. It helps to keep the product safe during transportation and avoid any damage/breakage or de-shaping and the ease of product consumption. Inner packs/product holders available today are either completely closed or one face open. The shape of container is of rectangular, square, pentagonal, hexagonal, octagonal etc or its modifications. The inner pack holder known in prior art have a bottom face, four side faces. The inner packs of well-known Nice Time Biscuit and Dark Fantasy Biscuit are two examples of such type of inner packs.
US3740238 and US4012530 disclose inner packs which exemplify one face opening (i.e. open from top).
US3740238 relates to cookie package including an open-topped cookie tray defining parallel compartments each defining a floor section for spacing a stack of cookies in the said tray away from a stack of cookies in a like underlying tray.
US4012530 relates to thermoplastic produced tray characterized by having a series of spaced apart, concave ribs or saddles extending upward from the bottom into the side walls. The ribs are adapted to cradle substantially globular produce.
US4230258 relates to a tray erectable from a blank of sheet material for use in a shrink-wrap package.

It comprises a first panel constituting a base, a second panel joined along one edge to an edge of the first panel and constituting a side panel of the tray, and a third panel joined along one edge to a second edge opposing said one edge of the second panel and extending between said second edge of the second panel and the base of the tray, a portion of the third panel being pierced to expose a cut edge which is profiled to conform substantially with a contour of an item it is desired to package on the tray whereby in use said contour abuts said edge to assist in the retention of said item in position on the tray.

Drawbacks of the Prior art

· Existing inner packaging is over designed;
· Existing inner packs use more packaging material (including PVC) to achieve the functional requirement which increase cost of production of the inner pack and result in increased carbon foot print.
· Internal container having more material does not help in adding additional value to consumer. It only helps to keep the product characteristics till it reaches the consumer.

NEED FOR THE PRESENT INVENTION

There is an increasing need for product manufacturers to reduce the amount of PVC used in the production of packaging material associated with their products, and in particular not only to reduce packaging costs but also to reduce the carbon footprint, expressed in tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, of the packaging material and/or the packaging operation.

Accordingly, there is a need for an inner pack product holder wherein the amount of packaging material used for the production of inner pack is reduced by 5% -50 % of similar design and shape, together with the associated packaging costs and carbon footprint, i.e. carbon dioxide emissions, while still achieving functional requirements of the inner pack i.e. to keep the product intact during transportation, avoid damage from de-shaping, breakage and damage to its characteristics.
The structure of the inner pack of the present invention is designed in such a way so as to achieve the desired reduction in the amount of packaging material required to form a packages i.e. reduction in amount of packaging material which also achieve reduction in consumption of PVC (in case where PVC is the packaging material) in the production of inner pack of the present invention in comparison with the prior art.

The present inventors have found that functional requirements of Inner Container applicable to food products where in inner container is used for typical purposes (e.g. Cake, Biscuits, Bread, Jelly, Confectionary Products, Chocolate and Choco based products etc) can be fulfilled by keeping two or more faces open of the inner pack /inner container of any shape i.e. rectangular, square, round, pentagonal, hexagonal, octagonal or its modifications and of any size but not limited to above.
The present inventors have found that functional requirements of Inner Container applicable to food products where in inner container is used for typical purposes (e.g. Cake, Biscuits, Bread, Jelly, Confectionary Products, Chocolate and Choco based products etc) can be fulfilled by providing open gates and perforations of different sizes and shape to the inner pack /inner container of any shape i.e. rectangular, square, round, pentagonal, hexagonal, octagonal or its modifications and of any size but not limited to above.
The design of the inner pack product holder of the present invention includes the below shapes /patterns but not limited to the same.
a) One face open / both faces open;
b) More than one face open;
c) Solidity across two/three/four /more than four faces;
d) Perforated across four faces;
e) Top edges with four pillars;
f) Three faces with extended corners;
g) Above with or without perforation of various dimensions and shapes;
h) Open gates at sides faces;
i) Open gates at Bottom face;
j) Open gates at sides faces with holes (perforations) at Bottom face;
k) Open gates at bottom face with holes (perforations) at side faces;
l) Open gates at bottom face and side face with holes (perforations) at side faces;
m) Open gates at bottom face and side face with holes (perforations) at bottom face
n) Random holes (perforations) at side faces and bottom face.

The consumption of PVC or utilization of other packaging material is less in the production of Inner pack of the present invention in comparison to the usual model with four side faces of the inner pack known in the prior art.

The present invention meets all requirements of inner container/pack for Food Products (e.g. Cake, Biscuits, Bakery, confectionery products) with less materials and at low cost.
ADVANTAGES OF THE INVENTION:

· Existing inner pack use more packaging material to achieve the functional requirement (i.e. to keep the product intact during transportation, avoid damage from de-shaping, breakage and damage to its characteristics) which can be achieved with less packaging material by the present invention which help to reduce cost of production/product.
· It helps to reduce the carbon foot print and help humanity by reducing material consumption for meeting same functional requirement.
· It helps to reduce the impact on Global warming.
