Abstract: The present disclosure provides means to facilitate the detection of SARS-CoV-2 infection. The 10 present disclosure provides CRISPR sgRNA sequence(s) that allows detection SARS-CoV-2 infection. Said sequence(s) of the present disclosure further facilitate identification and differentiation between variants of SARS-CoV-2 such as Omicron and non-Omicron variants of SARS-CoV-2. Further provided herein are associated method(s) that rely on the specifically designed sgRNA sequence(s) and CRISPR-Cas system(s) employing the same to enable detection 15 of presence or absence of SARS-CoV-2 in a sample, along with differentiation between variants of SARS-CoV-2 such as Omicron and non-Omicron variants of SARS-CoV-2.
