Negative Crankcase Pressure Management System And Method For Turbo Charged Gas Engine

Abstract: A negative crankcase pressure management system (150) for a crankcase (100) of an internal combustion engine having a turbocharger (107) is disclosed. A flow control valve (112) in fluid communication with the crankcase (100) and an intake manifold (110) controls pressure in the crankcase (100) when there is change in vacuum in the intake manifold (110) during an idling and motoring condition. The flow control valve (112) is activated due to suction pressure at the intake manifold (110) so that fresh air is allowed via a bypass nozzle (111b) in a floating valve (111) to regulate negative crankcase pressure within a threshold limit. A pressure controlled valve (103) in fluid communication with the crankcase (100) and an air intake pipe (106) controls pressure in the crankcase (100) when there is change in air intake depression during a full load operating condition. The flow control valve (112) is deactivated due to positive pressure at intake manifold (110) so that negative crankcase pressure is regulated with respect to depression in the air intake pipe (106) and rate of blow-by.
