Abstract: The present invention provides a surge protection circuit for protecting an LED driver from abnormal input conditions, such as voltage surge (e.g., differential and common mode surges) and high input voltage. The surge protection circuit protects the LED driver from high surge rated up to 6kV. In addition, the surge protection circuit protects the LED driver from high input voltage rated up to 440V. The surge protection circuit offers protection to the LED driver within a compact size and lower component count, thereby making the surge protection circuit a cost-effective solution. Moreover, the surge protection circuit can be used in both high and low impedance topologies.
