Bar Winding Toroidal Inductor

Abstract: ABSTRACT BAR WINDING TOROIDAL INDUCTOR A set of winding turns is placed along the circular core of a toroidal magnetic core. These independent winding turns are formed by placing multiple bare copper single bar winding turns sequentially over the circular section of the toroidal magnetic core and electrically connecting the ends of the so placed turns to one another. The interturn insulation is formed with insulation separators or formers or in-situ resin casting. In other embodiments of the arrangement, conducting strips are bent in a “U” form or a “I” form and soldered on to a printed circuit board with connecting path formed by independent interconnect bar conductors or the PCB track of the printed circuit board forms the interconnect depending on the continuous current rating of the inductor winding. This way of forming the inductor coil on a toroidal inductor over a toroidal core eliminates the slow conventional winding process using a shuttle bobbin or a manual process. It lends to automation and faster method for the realisation of winding to achieve the required inductance.
