An Encapsulated Beadlet Formulation Comprising A Carotenoid And A Method Of Preparation Thereof

Abstract: The present invention discloses an encapsulated formulation and a method of preparation thereof comprising a carotenoid, wherein the carotenoid is lutein, zeaxanthin and plant fiber, wherein the said fiber is selected from inulin, psyllium husk, , oat bran, wheat bran, bamboo fiber, chicory root fiber, fructose oligosaccharides. A process of preparation of such carotenoid beadlets are also disclosed prepared through extrusion and spheronization process of a wet mass comprising the lutein or zeaxanthin, and the plant fiber, wherein the plant fiber is preferably inulin. Lutein and Inulin derived beadlets as well as the other plant fiber based lutein and/or zeaxanthin beadlets disclosed in this invention has potential synergistic effect on overall gut health.
