Non Metallic Seal Assembly And Method For Bogie Suspension In Commercial Vehicles

Abstract: A non-metallic seal assembly (10) and method (60) for vehicle bogie suspension, is disclosed which includes a bell crank lever (12) having three arms (34, 36, 38) connected at each end of a multi-axle suspension spring (24, 26) fitted on the both sides of a vehicle frame (28). The three arms (34, 36, 38) of the bell crank lever (12) are connected to a jaw of a tie rod (22), a spring mounting bracket (32) and a spring shackle (42) attached to ends of the multi-axle suspension spring (24, 26). A non-metallic seal (50) is made of a casting process by adding a self-lubricant material as a filler mounted on connecting ends (52, 54) of each bell crank lever arm (34, 36, 38) in such a way to seal gap between the bell crank lever arms (34, 36, 38) connected to the multi-axle suspension spring (24, 26), arrest oozing out of grease from the spring shackle (42) to environment and to regulate a grease flow path in the shackle (42).
