A Flow Conditioning Device For Stabilizing Fluid Flow Within A Pipeline

Abstract: [00042] The present invention provides a flow conditioning device to stabilize flow of a fluid within pipelines. It comprises a perforated plate (102) configured to fit within the pipeline. The perforated plate (102) comprises a plurality of holes and has a thickness derived from a predetermined proportion of the internal diameter of the pipeline. The plurality of holes (104, 106, 108) are arranged in concentric circles on the perforated plate (102) including a central hole (104), a plurality of intermediate holes (106), and a plurality of outer holes (108) surrounding consecutively the previous one. Further, the holes are provided with chamfered edges to stabilize flow of a fluid within the pipelines. The flow conditioning device is installed upstream of an ultrasonic flow meter to facilitate more efficient metering of the fluid.
