A Method For Making A Multifilament Polyolefin Yarn Mimicking Cotton Like Yarn As A Continuous Process On Single Melt Spin Draw Wind Machine And The Multifilament Polyolefin Yarn

Abstract: Invention discloses a method for making polyolefin multifilament yarn mimicking natural cotton on a single melt-draw-spin machine and a multifilament yarn/fiber mimicking natural cotton. The key steps of the method include said feeding the raw material into an extruder to convert them into a fluid melt, passing the said fluid melt through spinneret, where the polymer comes out in form of continuous filaments, cooling the filaments through a blast of cross-flow cold air whereby plurality of filaments is bundled together to form a multifilament yarn, applying spin finish via a nozzle to impart further processability of yarn, heating and stretching the spin finished yarn over a set of rotating heated godets to obtain soft multifilament polyolefin yarns mimicking natural cotton like yarn. The yarn has a stretch ratio of approximately 2 to 6.
