Thermostatic Valve Having A Sleeve

Abstract: The disclosed valve (1) comprises a thermostatic element (20) that has a thermally expandable material (22) and includes a fixed portion (23) fixedly connected to a housing (10) and a movable portion (21) movable along an axis (X-X). The valve also comprises a valve element (30), which is movable along the axis relative to a valve seat fixedly supported by the housing, for controlling a flow of fluid between two chambers (C1, C2) in the housing. The valve additionally comprises a sleeve (40) that is movable along the axis to pass between a first configuration in which the sleeve bears against a sleeve seat fixedly supported by the housing separately from the valve seat, to prevent fluid from flowing between the two chambers, and a second configuration in which the sleeve is spaced apart from the sleeve seat. The valve element is connected to the movable portion and the sleeve such that upon expansion of the thermally expandable material, the movable portion opens the valve element to an intermediate position while the sleeve remains in its first configuration, and then the open valve element is driven by the movable portion beyond the intermediate position while driving the sleeve from the first configuration to the second configuration.
