System And Method For Executing A Speed Test In A Network

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system (108) and a method (400) for executing a speed test in a network (106). A receiving unit (202) processes a request from a user (102) to initiate the speed test. A processing engine (210) determines the location of a User Equipment (UE) (104) associated with the user (102) and identifies a predefined list of servers based on the determined location. A first server is selected from the identified list, and one or more connections are established with the selected server by creating one or more threads to facilitate transmitting and receiving of at least one data packet between the UE (104) and the selected first server to perform one or more operations for executing the speed test. The method (400) measures network performance by executing operations such as latency, upload speed, and download speed tests. Fig. 4

WE CLAIM:
1. A method (400) for executing a speed test in a network (106), the method
(400) comprising:
5 receiving (402), by a receiving unit (202), at least one request from
a user to initiate the speed test;
determining (404), by a processing engine(s) (210), a location of a
User Equipment (UE) (104) associated with the user (102) based on the at
least one received request;
10 identifying (406), by the processing engine(s) (210), a predefined
list of servers based on the determined location of the UE (104);
selecting (408), by the processing engine(s) (210), a first server from
the identified predefined list of servers; and
establishing (410), by the processing engine(s) (210), one or more
15 connections with the selected first server by creating one or more threads to
facilitate transmitting and receiving of at least one data packet between the
UE (104) and the selected first server to perform one or more operations for
executing the speed test.
20 2. The method (400) as claimed in claim 1, wherein for selecting the first
server from the identified predefined list of servers, the method (400) further
comprising:
determining a location of each server in the identified predefined
list of servers;
25 calculating a distance between the location of each server and the
location of the UE (104); and
selecting the first server from the identified predefined list of servers
having a shortest calculated distance.

3. The method (400) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the one or more operations
comprising at least one of a latency test, an upload speed test or a download
speed test.
5 4. The method (400) as claimed in claim 3, wherein for performing the latency
test, the method (400) comprising:
transmitting, by the processing engine(s) (210), at least one data
packet from the UE (104) to the selected first server; and
measuring, by the processing engine(s) (210), a round trip time taken
10 by the at least one data packet to travel back to
