Abstract: ABSTRACT A COATING COMPOSITION AND PROCESS THEREOF The present disclosure provides a coating composition, comprising: a base pack, and a hardener, wherein the base pack comprises a first matting agent and a second matting agent dispersed in at least one dispersion medium, wherein the first matting 5 agent is an untreated thermal silica, the second matting agent is a surface treated dispersible silica, and the hardener is selected from a group consisting of aliphatic polyisocyanate, aromatic polyisocyanate, and combinations thereof, wherein the untreated thermal silica and the surface treated dispersible silica are in a weight ratio range of 1:0.5 to 1:2. The present disclosure further provides a process for 10 preparing the coating composition a formulation comprising the coating composition, an article and a kit thereof. 29
I/We Claim:
1. A coating composition, comprising:
a. a base pack, and
b. a hardener,
5 wherein the base pack comprises a first matting agent and a second matting
agent dispersed in at least one dispersion medium, wherein the first matting
agent is an untreated thermal silica,
the second matting agent is a surface treated dispersible silica, and
the hardener is selected from a group consisting of aliphatic polyisocyanate,
10 aromatic polyisocyanate, and combinations thereof,
wherein the untreated thermal silica and the surface treated dispersible silica
are in a weight ratio range of 1:0.5 to 1:2.
2. The coating composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the dispersion medium
is selected a group consisting of acrylic polyol, alkyd polyol, and polyester
15 polyol.
3. The coating composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the untreated thermal
silica and the surface treated dispersible silica are in a weight ratio range of 1:0.7
to 1:1.15.
4. The coating composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the untreated thermal
20 silica has a d50 in a range of 8 to 10 µm.
5. The coating composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the surface treated
dispersible silica has a d50 in the range of 10.1 to 13 µm.
6. The coating composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the dispersion medium
has a hydroxyl value of 40 to 250 mg of KOH/g, preferably 60 to 200 mg of
25 KOH/g, and more preferably 100 to 150 mg of KOH/g.
7. The coating composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the untreated thermal
silica is present in an amount ranging from 2 to 7% by weight of the base pack,
preferably 3.5 to 6.0% by weight of the base pack, and the surface treated
dispersible silica is present in an amount ranging from 2 to 7% by weight,
preferably 3.5 to 6.0% by weight of the base pack.
8. The coating composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the base pack and the
hardener are mixed in a volume ratio range of 2:1 to 4:1.
