Abstract: A mutant nitrile hydratase mutated from a nitrile hydratase, said nitrile hydratase being derived from Pseudonocardia thermophila and having an a subunit having 90% or more sequence identity with SEQ ID NO: 1 and a ß subunit having 90% or more sequence identity with SEQ ID NO: 2, by the substitution of an amino acid residue, which is at at least one position selected from the group consisting of the 23rd, 105th, 142nd, 145th, 152nd, 153rd, 180th and 188th positions from the N-terminus of the a subunit and the 89th, 122nd, 149th, 153rd, 189th, 207th, 232nd, 233rd, and 50th positions from the N-terminus of the ß subunit, into a specific amino acid residue.
