Apparatus And Method For Irradiating A Biological Fluid

Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus (21) for the treatment, by electromagnetic irradiation at a predetermined dose, of a biological fluid contained in an irradiation receptacle, the irradiation receptacle having at least one wall which is permeable to the electromagnetic radiation. The apparatus comprises: a recess (22) which is configured to receive the irradiation receptacle (22) containing the biological fluid; one or more light sources which emit the electromagnetic radiation; an information collection device (34) which is configured to collect information regarding a parameter of the irradiation receptacle; and a control unit which is configured to: (i) obtain information regarding a parameter of the irradiation receptacle; (ii) determine a target irradiation dose on the basis of the information regarding the parameter and the predetermined dose; and (iii) irradiate the irradiation receptacle with the target irradiation dose, the information regarding the parameter of the irradiation receptacle comprising the transmittance value of the wall of the irradiation receptacle.
