Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition comprising more than ten percent by weight of 4-(3-ethoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl)butan-2-one derivative corresponding to formula (I), as described below, at least one substance that is liquid at room temperature and ambient pressure chosen from polar protic organic solvent(s), and optionally water. The invention also relates to the use of a composition according to the invention for improving the microbial preservation of cosmetic compositions.
