Optimized Processing For Reducing Channels Of A Stereophonic Audio Signal

Abstract: The invention relates to a processing method for reducing channels of a stereophonic signal to obtain a monophonic signal, comprising selection (305), for one stereophonic signal frame, between: - a first channel-reducing processing mode (T1) comprising filtering with re-phasing on each of the channels of the stereophonic signal according to an angle defined by half the determined phase difference (303, 304) between the two channels of the stereophonic signal, and a second channel-reducing processing mode (T2) comprising filtering with re-phasing on a single one of the channels of the stereophonic signal according to an angle defined by the determined phase difference (303, 304) between the two channels of the stereophonic signal, selection of the first processing mode, and of the second processing mode, respectively, being dependent on the value of a phase indicator determined per frame (302). The invention also relates to a processing device for reducing channels implementing the method.
