Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method [600] and a system [300] for performing handover in a wireless communication network. The disclosure encompasses receiving a handover request associated with a User Equipment (UE) [303] from a source base station [304s]; identifying one or more interfaces for performing a handover of the UE [303] from the source base station [304s] to a target base station [304t] based on the handover request; detecting [606] a failure in performing the handover of the UE [303] to the target base station [304t] via each of the one or more interfaces; blacklisting the target base station [304t] for a pre-defined time period upon detecting the failure in performing the handover of the UE [303] to the target base station [304t]; and stopping the handover of the UE [303] and one or more UEs to the target base station [304t] during the pre-defined time period. We Claim:
1. A method [600] for performing handover in a wireless communication
network, the method [600] comprising:
5 receiving, by a transceiver unit [306], a handover request associated with a
User Equipment (UE) [303] from a source base station [304s];
identifying, by an identification unit [302], one or more interfaces for
performing a handover of the UE [303] from the source base station [304s] to a
target base station [304t] based on the handover request;
10 detecting [604], by a handover manager unit [307], a failure in performing
the handover of the UE [303] to the target base station [304t] via each of the one or
more interfaces;
blacklisting [606], by the handover manager unit [307], the target base
station [304t] for a pre-defined time period upon detecting the failure in performing
15 the handover of the UE [303] to the target base station [304t]; and
stopping [608], by the handover manager unit [307], the handover of the UE
[303] and one or more UEs to the target base station [304t] during the pre-defined
time period.
20 2. The method [600] as claimed in claim 1, wherein the source base station
[304s] is a source next-generation Node Base station (source gNB) from which the
handover of the UE [303] is to be performed, and wherein the target base station
[304t] is a target next-generation Node Base station (target gNB) to which the
handover of the UE [303] is to be performed.

3. The method [600] as claimed in claim 1, wherein the one or more interfaces
comprise a first interface and a second interface, wherein the first interface is an Xn
interface, and wherein the second interface is one of an Ng interface or an N2
interface.

failure in performing the handover of the UE [303] to the target base station [304t]
via each of the one or more interfaces is preceded by:
