Abstract: The present invention relates to a positive electrode active material for lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, wherein the positive electrode active material comprises Li and transition metals such as Ni, optionally Co, optionally Mn and Nb, wherein the positive electrode active material is coated with B, and wherein a specific surface area of said positive electrode active material is higher than or equal to 0.50 m2/g and lower than or equal to 1.50 m2/g.
