Abstract: The CAM assembly 10 comprises a housing 12 having a roller tappet 14. The CAM assembly 10 comprises a plain shaft 16 with a step structure 18 and a cam lobe 20 having an opening 15 for accommodating the plain shaft 16. The plain shaft 5 16 is accommodated in the cam lobe 20 in such a way that, the cam lobe 20 and the plain shaft 16 forms a camshaft 22. With the above disclosed new design of the cam shaft 22, the cost on material that is used to make the cam shaft 22 (as in the conventional design) can be reduced along with the manufacturing time .The plain shaft 16 as disclosed in the 10 invention, can be reused by replacing a damaged cam lobe with new cam lobe.
Claims:1. A CAM assembly (10) in a vehicle, said CAM assembly (10) comprising :
- a housing (12) having a roller tappet (14);
characterized in that:

(16), such a way that, said cam lobe (20) and said plain shaft (16) forms a
camshaft (22).
2. The CAM assembly (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said cam lobe (20)
comprises a cut-section (24) corresponding to said step structure (18) of said
plain shaft (16), such that, said plain shaft (16) and said cam lobe (20) are locked
into each other.
3. The CAM assembly (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said cam lobe (20) and
said plain shaft (16) are made as separate components and said plain shaft (16)
is slided into said cam lobe during assembly.
4. The CAM assembly (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein a portion of said cam lobe
20 (20) is made to come in contact with said roller tappet (14) during operation of
said CAM assembly (10).
5. The CAM assembly (10) as claimed in claim 1, comprises a first supporting
element (28) positioned on an opposite side of said step structure (18) of said
25 plain shaft (16) for restricting a movement of said plain shaft (16) during said
operation of said CAM assembly (10).
6. The CAM assembly (10) as claimed in claim 1, comprises a second supporting
element (30) is positioned on a portion of said plain shaft (16) in proximity to
30 said opening of said cam lobe (20) for an efficient transmission of said cam shaft
(22).
7. The CAM assembly (10) as claimed in claim 6, wherein said second supporting
element (30) is positioned on said plain shaft (16) externally.
