A Communication Node Which Communicates With A Communication Device

Abstract: Efficient encoding techniques are  described for  encoding resource allocation data to be signalled to a number of user devices in a communication system. In one encoding technique, a resource allocation bit pattern is transmitted to all the users together with a resource ID for each user. Each user then  identifies its allocated sub-carriers using the received allocation bit pattern and the received resource ID.  In another encoding technique, a code tree is used to generate a value representing the sub-carrier allocation-  The user device then uses the code tree to determine the sub-carrier allocation from the signalled value.

Specification

1. A communications node which communicates with a communications device (3), the
communications node (5) comprising:
means for transmitting (21) control information comprising a resource indication value for
indicating a resource allocation, wherein the resource indication value is defined by at least one of
expressions:
N(P-l)+Oor
N(N-(P-1))+(N-1 O)
where N is a number of resource blocks in a bandwidth, O is a starting resource block
number and Pisa length in terms of number of consecutive resource blocks; and
means for transmitting (21) downlink data using resources indicated by the control information.
2. A communications node according to the claim 1, wherein the control information further comprises a bit pattern that indicates a type of the resource allocation indicated by said resource indication vaiue.
3. A communications node according to the claim 1, wherein the resource blocks comprise subcarriers in a sub-frame.
4. A communications device which communicates with a communications node (5), the communications device (3) comprising:
means for receiving (71), from the communications node (5), control information comprising a resource indication value for indicating a resource allocation, wherein the resource indication value is defined by at least one of expressions:
N(P-l)+Oor
N(N-(P-l))+(N-l-0) where N is a number of resource blocks in a bandwidth, O is a starting resource block number and P is a length in terms of number of consecutive resource blocks;
means for interpreting (91) the resource allocation based on the control information; and
means for decoding (91) downlink data using resources interpreted based on the control information.
5. A communications device which communicates with a communications node, the
communications device (3) comprising:
means for receiving, from the communications node (5), control information comprising a resource indication value for indicating a resource allocation, wherein the resource indication value is defined by at least one of expressions:

N(P-l)+Oor
N(N-(P-l))+(N-l-0) where N is a number of resource blocks in a bandwidth, O is a starting resource block number and P is a length in terms of number of consecutive resource blocks; and
means for interpreting (33) the resource allocation based on the control information; and
means for transmitting (21), to the communications node (5), uplink data using resources interpreted based on the control information.
6. A communications device according to the claim 5, wherein the control information further comprises a bit pattern that indicates a type of the resource allocation indicated by said resource indication value.
7. A communications device according to the claim 5, wherein the resource blocks comprise
subcarriers in a sub-frame.
8. A communications method in a communications node (5) which communicates with a
communications device (3), the communications method comprising: transmitting control information comprising a resource indication value for indicating a resource allocation, wherein the resource indication value is defined by at least one of expressions:
N(P-l)+0 or
N(N-(P-l))+(N-l-0) where N is a number of resource blocks in a bandwidth, O is a starting resource block number and P is a length in terms of number of consecutive resource blocks; and
transmitting downlink data using resources indicated by the control information.
9. A communications method in a communications device (3) which communicates with a
communications node (5), the communications method comprising:
receiving, from the communications node (5), control information comprising a resource indication value for indicating a resource allocation, wherein the resource indication value is defined by at least one of expressions:
N(P-l)+Oor
N(N-(P-l))+(N-l-0) where N is the number of resource blocks in a bandwidth, O is a starting resource block number and P is the length in terms of number of consecutive resource blocks; and
interpreting the resource allocation based on the control information; and
decoding downlink data using resources interpreted based on the control information.
10. A communications method in a communications device (3) which communicates with a
communications node (5), the communications method comprising:

receiving, from the communications node (5), control information comprising a resource indication value for indicating a resource allocation, wherein the resource indication value is defined by at least one of expressions:
N(P-l)+Oor
N(N-(P-l))+(N-l-0) where N is a number of resource blocks in a bandwidth, O is a starting resource block number and P is a length in terms of number of consecutive resource blocks; and
interpreting the resource allocation based on the control information; and
transmitting, to the communications node (5), uplink data using resources interpreted based on the control information.
