Abstract: The present disclosure provides a skin care composition comprising apple leaf callus extract, and nicotinamide, which at particular w/w ratios enhances collagen secretion, which is a marker for healthy and firm skin.

Specification
Claims:1. A composition comprising:
a. apple leaf callus extract; and
b. nicotinamide,
wherein apple leaf callus extract to nicotinamide w/w ratio in said composition is in the range of 1:0.14-1:1.33.
2. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein apple leaf callus extract weight percentage in said composition is in the range of 0.003-0.007%, and nicotinamide weight percentage in said composition is in the range of 0.001-0.004%.
3. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein apple leaf callus extract to nicotinamide w/w ratio in said composition is 1:0.5.
4. The composition as claimed in claim 3, wherein apple leaf callus extract weight percentage in said composition is 0.005%, and nicotinamide weight percentage in said composition is 0.0025%.
5. The composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-4, further comprising suitable carriers, diluents, and excipients.
6. The composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-4, wherein said apple leaf callus extract is prepared by:
a. obtaining callus mass developed from apple leaf explants;
b. processing said callus mass into a paste and contacting said paste with at least one preservative at a weight concentration in the range of 0.2-0.4%, and at least one anti-oxidant at a weight concentration in the range of 0.1-0.3% to obtain a second paste;
c. contacting said second paste with methanol for 10-15 hours and constant stirring, followed by filtration to obtain a retentate;
d. contacting said retentate with dichloromethane for 10-15 hours and constant stirring, followed by filtration to obtain a filtrate; and
e. drying said filtrate to obtain said apple leaf callus extract.
7. A method of preparing a composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-6.
8. A method of inhibiting appearance of skin aging, said method comprising:
a. obtaining a composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-6; and
b. contacting said composition with skin,
wherein said method inhibits appearance of skin aging.
9. A composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-6 for use in preparing topical formulations to inhibiting appearance of skin aging.
