Abstract: The present disclosure provides a skin care composition comprising chrysin and bearberry extract, which at particular w/w ratio provides synergistic enhancement in skin benefits. Also provided are formulations, and method of preparing the same.
Claims:1. A skin care composition comprising:
a. chrysin; and
b. bearberry extract,
wherein chrysin to bearberry extract w/w ratio in said composition is in the range of 1:5-1:40.
2. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein chrysin to bearberry extract w/w ratio in said composition is 1:10.
3. The composition claimed in claim 1, wherein chrysin weight concentration in said composition is in the range of 0.001-1%, and bearberry extract weight concentration in said composition is in the range of 0.01-5%.
4. The composition as claimed in claim 3, wherein chrysin weight concentration in said composition is 0.01%, and bearberry extract weight concentration in said composition is 0.1%.
5. The composition as claimed in any of claims 1-4, further comprising:
a. at least one polymer having weight concentration in the range of 0.005-5%;
b. at least one chelator having weight concentration in the range of 0.001-0.1%;
c. at least one emollient having weight concentration in the range of 0.001-10%;
d. at least one humectant/feel enhancer having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-10%;
e. at least one neutralizer having weight concentration in the range of 0.005-0.75%;
f. at least one preservative having weight concentration in the range of 0.001-1%;
g. water; and optionally
i. at least one emulsifying agent having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-5%; or
ii. at least one fragrance having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-3%; or
iii. at least one cosmetically acceptable additive having weight concentration in the range of 0.001-5%.
6. The composition as claimed in claim 5, wherein
a. said at least one polymer is selected from the group consisting of (a) at least one starch; (b) at least one modified starch; (c) at least one gum; (d) at least one carbomer; (e) at least one silicone based polymer; (f) at least one acrylate; (g) at least one cellulose based polymer; and (h) combinations thereof;
b. said at least one chelator is selected from the group consisting of dimercapto-succinic acid (DMSA), dimercapto-propane sulfonate (DMPS), alpha lipoic acid (ALA), calcium disodium versante (CaNa2-EDTA), disodium EDTA, dimercaprol (BAL), etidronic acid, ethyleneglycoltetraacetic acid, ehtylenediaminedisuccinic acid, and combinations thereof;
c. said at least one emollient is selected from the group consisting of lanolin, octyldodecanol, hexyl decanol, oleyl alcohol, decyloleate, isopropyl stearate, isopropyl palmitate, isopropyl myristate, hexyl laureate, dioctyl cyclohexane, PPG-15 stearyl ether, isohexadecane, stearic acid, cetyl alcohol, mineral oil, at least one ester, at least one alcohol, at least one essential oil and extracts thereof, at least one silicone oil, linear polydimethylsiloxanes, cyclic polydimethylsiloxanes, volatile silicones, and combinations thereof;
d. said at least one humectant/feel enhancer is selected from the group consisting of at least one silicone, at least one silicone oil, at least one silicone polymer, at least one cyclized derivative of silicone, at least one polyol, at least one acrylate polymer, at least one biopolymer, and combinations thereof;
e. said at least one neutralizer is selected from the group consisting of triethanolamine, citric acid, sodium hydroxide, malic acid, lactic acid, ascorbic acid, and combination thereof;
f. said at least one preservative is selected from the group consisting of methyl paraben, propyl paraben, butyl paraben, ethyl paraben, propyl paraben, isopropyl paraben, 2-phenoxyethanol, sodium metabisulfite, sodium benzoate, benzyl alcohol, ethyl hexyl glycerin, parabens, formaldehyde-releasing agents, alkyltrimethylammonium bromides, haloalkynylcarbamates, and combinations thereof;
g. said at least one emulsifying agent is selected from the group consisting of oxyalkylenated fatty acid esters of polyols, PEG-100 stearate & glyceryl stearate, oxyalkylenated fatty acid esters of sorbitan, oxyalkylenated (oxyethylenated and/or oxypropylenated) fatty alcohol ethers, alkoxylated or non-alkoxylated sugar esters, sorbitan esters, esters of diacids, esters of fatty alcohols, acrylates, PEG based emulsifiers, polyglyceryl based emulsifiers, silicones, dimethicones, mixture of glycerylmonostearate and of polyethylene glycol stearate and combinations thereof;
h. said at least one fragrance is selected from the group consisting of blend of essential oils, blend of synthetic aroma compounds, and combination thereof;
i. said at least one cosmetically acceptable additive is selected from the group consisting of colorants, antioxidants, free radical scavengers, vitamins, anti-aging agents, thickeners, and combinations thereof.
7. The composition as claimed in any of the claims 5-6, comprising:
a. water having weight concentration in the range of 71-99.9%;
b. at least one chelator having weight concentration in the range of 0.001-0.1%;
c. at least one polymer having weight concentration in the range of 0.005-5%;
d. at least one emulsifying agent having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-5%;
e. at least one humectant having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-10%;
f. at least one preservative having weight concentration in the range of 0.001-1%;
g. at least one neutralizing agent having weight concentration in the range of 0.005-0.75%;
h. chrysin having weight concentration in the range of 0.001-1%; and
i. bearberry extract having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-5%.
8. A method of preparing a composition as claimed in claims 5-7, said method comprising:
a. dispersing at least one polymer, and at least one chelator in water to obtain a mixture A;
b. adding at least one humectant/feel enhancer, and at least one preservative, and at least one emollient, and optionally at least one emulsifying agent to mixture A, to obtain a mixture B;
c. neutralizing mixture B with at least one neutralizing agent to obtain a mixture C; and
d. mixing chrysin, and bearberry extract with said mixture C to obtain said composition.
