A Controller And Method To Assist Quick Gearshift Using Gearbox Position Sensor

Abstract: A controller (110) and method to assist quick gearshift using gearbox position sensor is disclosed. The controller (110) is adapted to receive input signals (114) from the gearbox position sensor (104), enable a shift assist functionality (116) by comparing received input signals (114) from the 5 gearbox position sensor (104) and a predetermined first threshold (122), determine rate of change in voltage of the gearbox position sensor (104) based on received input signals (114), activate the shift assist functionality (116) by comparing the determined rate of change in voltage of the gearbox position sensor (104) and 10 a predetermined second threshold (124) and actuate gearshift based on the shift assist functionality (116).

Specification

Claims:1. A controller (110) to assist quick gearshift in a vehicle (100), said vehicle
(100) comprising a gearbox position sensor (104),
said controller (110) 5 is adapted to:
? receive input signals (114) from said gearbox position sensor (104);
? enable a shift assist functionality (116) by comparing received input
signals (114) from said gearbox position sensor (104) and a
predetermined first threshold (122);
10 ? determine rate of change in voltage of said gearbox position sensor
(104) based on received input signals (114);
? activate said shift assist functionality (116) by comparing the
determined rate of change in voltage of said gearbox position sensor
(104) and a predetermined second threshold (124); and
15 ? actuate gearshift based on said shift assist functionality (116).
2. The controller (110) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said input signals
(114) are voltage readings of said gearbox position sensor (104) over a
time period.
3. The controller (110) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said controller (110)
20 calibrated with said predetermined first threshold (122) and said
predetermined second threshold (124).
4. The controller (110) as claimed in claim 1, enables said shift assist
functionality (116) when said input signals (114) from said gearbox
position sensor (104) exceeds said predetermined first threshold (122).
5. The controller (110) as claimed in claim 1, activates said shift assist
functionality (116) when the determined rate of change in voltage of
said gearbox position sensor (104) exceeds said predetermined second
threshold (124).
6. A method for assisting quick gearshift in a vehicle (100), said vehicle
(100) comprising a controller (110), a gearbox position sensor (104),
said method comprising 5 the steps of:
? receive, by said controller (110), input signals (114) from said
gearbox position sensor (104);
? enable, by said controller (110), a shift assist functionality (116) by
comparing received input signals (114) from said gearbox position
10 sensor (104) and a predetermined first threshold (122);
? determine, by said controller (110), rate of change in voltage of said
gearbox position sensor (104) based on received input signals
(114);
? activate, by said controller (110), said shift assist functionality (116)
15 by comparing the determined rate of change in voltage of said
gearbox position sensor (104) and a predetermined second
threshold (124); and
? actuate, by said controller (110), gear shift based on said shift assist
functionality (116).
7. The method as claimed in claim 6, wherein said input signals (114) are
voltage readings of said gearbox position sensor (104) over a time
period.
8. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said controller (110)
calibrated with said predetermined first threshold (122) and said
predetermined second threshold (124).
9. The method as claimed in claim 1,wherein said controller(110) enables
said shift assist functionality (116) when said input signals (114) from
said gearbox position sensor (104) exceeds said predetermined first
threshold (122).
10. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said 5 controller(110)
activates said shift assist functionality (116) when the determined rate
of change in voltage of said gearbox position sensor (104) exceeds said
predetermined second threshold (124). , Description:A controller (110) and method to assist quick gearshift using gearbox position
sensor is disclosed. The controller (110) is adapted to receive input signals
(114) from the gearbox position sensor (104), enable a shift assist functionality
(116) by comparing received input signals (114) from the 5 gearbox position
