Abstract: The present invention is provided with a device for holding the tool adaptable to pipe chamfering and edge preparation machine comprising a first cylindrical base plate (1) and the front face of the base plate is provided with clamping means with front face of the machine and an extended horizontal oriented Y-shaped body (2) of the base plates constitutes a second part viz clamping unit and the clamping unit is provided with an inside hole covered with a wear resistance bush (8) and a tennon (9) is mounted on the face of clamping unit for aligning the cutting head and a pair of inclined inward threaded holes are disposed on the top of the clamping unit for mounting grub screw (11); characterized in that the said device holds the tool rightly by means of a pair grub-screw mounted on the inward inclined threaded hole and a tennon is mounted for alignment of the cutting tool (10).
FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention relates to a device for holding tools adaptable to pipe
chamfering and edge preparation machine.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
The existing pipe chamfering and edge preparation machine has been supplied
with tool holders. These tool holders consist of three parts 1) Base plate 2)
Clamping Unit and 3) Cutting Head. All the three parts are imported from
Germany. Clamping Unit is screwed on to the base plate. Base plate is having
provisions for clamping on to the machine face plate. Clamping Unit is having
ball for clamping the cutting unit and ball is activated by a special screw.
The cutting unit got damaged within three months of usage. Special screw for
ball activation got broken and unable to rectify the same due to complicated
mechanism of clamping unit.
Two sets of tool holder assemblies are supplied with each machine. One with
long length holder is for EP machining and OD turning of pipes and the other
short length holder is for EP machining on pipes. Both holders can accommodate
CNMM 250924 insert which has only two cutting edges.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
It is therefore, an object of the present invention to propose a device for holding
the tool adaptable to pipe chamfering and edge preparation machine which
eliminates the disadvantages of the existing state of Art.
Another object of the present invention is to propose a device for holding tool
adaptable to pipe chamfering and edge preparation machine which can be easily
replaced and is easily available.
A further object of the present invention is to propose a device for holding tool
adaptable to pipe chamfering and edge preparation machine which saves cost in
operation.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention is provided with a device for holding the tool adaptable to
pipe chamfering and edge preparation machine comprising a first cylindrical base
plate and the front face of the base plate is provided with clamping means with
front face of the machine and an extended horizontal oriented Y-shaped body of
the base plates, which constitutes a second part viz clamping unit and the
clamping unit is provided with an inside hole covered with a wear resistance
bush and a tennon is mounted on the face of clamping unit for aligning the
cutting head. A pair of inclined inward threaded holes is disposed on the top of
the clamping unit for mounting grub screw.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF
THE INVENTION:
The present invention is provided with two parts:-
1. Basic holder & 2. Cutting head.
The basic holder (1) is made of a cylindrical steel body having provision for
fastenable means for fixing with the face plate of machine.
The tool holder consists of two parts in a single device viz 1. base plate, 2. clamp
unit. The base plate is a small height cylindrical shaped plate like body (1) and
has a provision on front face for clamping on to the machine face plate. A
horizontal oriented Y-shaped extended part (2) on rear face of the base plate
comprises a clamping unit. The clamping part has an inside central hole covered
with a wear resistant bush (8) through which the tool is inserted.
A tennon (9) is mounted on the face of rare side base holder for aligning cutting
head (10). A pair of grub screws (11) mounted on the outer surface of clamping
unit which is inward inclined threaded hole for cutting head. The device is made
of steel material.
WE CLAIM:
1. A device for holding the tool adaptable to pipe chamfering and edge
preparation machine comprises:
a first cylindrical base plate (1);
the front face of the base plate (1) is provided with clamping
means with front face of the machine;
an extended horizontal oriented Y-shaped body (2) of the base
plates constitutes a second part viz clamping unit;
the clamping unit is provided with an inside hole covered with a
wear resistance bush (8) and a tennon (9) is mounted on the
face of clamping unit for aligning the cutting head;
a pair of inclined inward threaded holes are disposed on the top
of the clamping unit for mounting grub screw (11);
characterized in that the said device holds the tool rightly by means of a
pair grub-screw mounted on the inward inclined threaded hole and a
tennon is mounted for alignment of the cutting tool (10).
2. The device as claimed in claim 1 wherein the device made of steel material.
