Abstract: A LEAK OFF CONNECTOR FOR FUEL INJECTOR ABSTRACT A leak off connector 20 for a fuel injector 10, wherein said fuel injector 10 comprises of at least an injector body 102. The injector body 102 comprises of an interface 110 located at the operative top of the fuel injector 10, wherein said interface 110 is adapted to receive the leak off connector 20. The fuel injector 10 is further characterized with a locking clip 106 located on a portion of said leak off connector 20. Additionally the fuel injector is also characterized by a groove 108 located in the interface 110 of the fuel injector 10 in a manner such that when the interface 110 receives the leak off connector 20 the locking clip 106 snap fits into the groove 108 .

Claims:We claim:
1. A leak off connector (20) for a fuel injector (10), said fuel injector (10) comprising at least an injector body (102), said injector body (102) comprising an interface (110) located at the operative top of said fuel injector (10), said interface (110) adapted to receive the leak off connector (20);
Characterized in that,
- a locking clip (106) located on a portion of said leak off connector (20); and
- a groove (108), said groove (108) located in said interface (110) of the fuel injector (10) in a manner such that when the interface (110) receives the leak off connector (20) the locking clip (106) snap fits into the groove (108) .
2. A fuel injector (10), said fuel injector (10) comprising at least an injector body (102), said injector body (102) comprising an interface (110) located at the operative top of said fuel injector (10), characterized in that,
- said interface (10) comprising a groove (108); and
- a leak off connector (20) adapted to fit in to said groove (108) through a locking clip (106) provided in a portion of said leak off connector (20).
, Description:Complete specification: The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed. 
Field of the invention:
[0001] The invention relates to a fuel injector and particularly relates to a leak off connector of the fuel injector.

Background of the Invention:
[0002] A person skilled in art would be aware that many version of fuel injectors are already known. However, some basic components in a fuel injector are always present. Following are some of the basic components of any fuel injector known in the state of the art viz the injector body components, the magnet group components, electrical connector components, nozzle module components and the like. With regard to this disclosure we will specifically focus on the leak off connector provided in a fuel injector.
[0003] In conventional diesel injectors, leak-off connection is provided to drain the excess low pressure fuel back to the tank without leakage from leak-off joints of the injector. There are majorly three types of leak-off connections:
1. Fastener assembled with Banjo and Copper washer
2. Copper brazed type joint
3. Press fit with application of Loctite
[0004] However, these existing leak off connectors normally may pause multiple issues resulting in complexities. These designs themselves pause complexities and difficulties in manufacturing and even result in leakage through the leak off connection, while being heavy and increasing the weight of the injector. More importantly, the existing models demand considerable effort for assembly of the leak off connector, for instance the effort required to assemble and tighten a banjo leak off connector with bolts. Additionally the assembly may be made complex with commonly occurring missing of components or wrong components being used in the assembly. Moreover, there are multiple processes and complexity involved in the assembly of these existing connectors.
[0005] Therefore, there exists a need for a simplified leak-off connection designed for conventional injectors in order to reduce manufacturing complexity and provide ease of assembly, as described in this disclosure.

Detailed description of the embodiments:
[0010] Fig 1 illustrates a fuel injector (10), according to an embodiment of the present invention. The fuel injector (10) comprises of at least an injector body (102) and the injector body (102) comprises of an interface (110) located at the operative top of the fuel injector (10). The interface (110) may be a stepped reamed or drilled hole on the injector body (102).
[0011] Fig. 2 illustrates a leak off connector (20) of the fuel injector (10), according to an embodiment of the present invention. Further, the leak off connector (20) comprises of a locking clip (106) located on a portion of the leak off connector (20).
[0012] Fig. 3 illustrates a locking mechanism for the leak off connector (20) of the fuel injector (10), according to an embodiment of the present invention. Accordingly, the interface (110) of the fuel injector (10) is adapted in such a way as to receive the leak off connector (20) using the locking clip (106).Additionally, the fuel injector (10) also has a groove (108) located in the interface (110). The groove (108) is located such that, when the interface (110) receives the leak off connector (20), the locking clip (106) snap fits into the groove (108).
[0013] In one embodiment of the invention, the single piece leak off connector (20) can be made of plastic or metal embedded with plastic. Additionally, the groove (108) acts as a provision for mounting O-ring for sealing low pressure leak off fuel to ambient conditions.
[0014] The leak off connector (20) as described in the disclosure is for a simplified leak off connection and designed for conventional injectors such that it aids in reduction of manufacturing complexity and ease the assembly processes like pipe bending, brazing, pressing, torqueing and so on, for instance the effort required for assembling and tightening banjo with bolt. The disclosed leak off connector (20) also have multiple advantages in addition to this. Most importantly, said leak off connector (20) can drastically reduce leakage through leak-off connection. This will also prevent the missing or wrong components being used, as is the common occurrence in case of copper washers, banjo bolt and so on. Moreover, the invention will drastically reduce the injector weight.

Many such embodiments and other modifications and changes in the embodiment explained in the description are envisaged. The scope of the invention is only limited by the scope of the claims.
